Considering an Annual Pass

So, for our next trip, I am considering an Annual Pass for me and regular parkhoppers for the rest of my party. I’ve done the math and it seems to work out on my favor. But I want to nail down some details.

1. Memory Maker is included, correct?
2. I know this year the discounts were increased for the 45th anniversary. Was the usual discount 10% at the listed dining locations and shops?
3. Would I have to make the purchases at dining locations and shops to get the discount, being the AP holder?

I think that’s it. Thanks for any input. This is new territory for me.

1. Yes, MM is included
2. Historical discounts varied between 10-15%, depending on location. Remember, you can also get a Tables in Wonderland card for higher discounts at more places.
3. Yes, you have to make the purchase. They are supposed to check your pass and ID. However, some CMs (especially in Disney Springs) don't really notice/care if you were to use someone else's magic band (i.e. Put it on your wrist before paying and make sure you know their PIN number). The CMs also don't have to scan the AP, so the computer system doesn't recognize if a different person's name was on the magicband/CC-its up to the CM to check.

As long as you're not getting the cheaper annual passes Memory Maker is included. I have the Florida resident silver pass and it is not included. They extended the discounts, they were supposed to end on September 30. It's been pretty helpful with dining discounts. I don't know all the places that accept a discount so every time we go anywhere we ask if there is one. Some places are pretty strict about the person with the annual pass being the one to pay. You could have people in your group give you cash after or a disney gift card to pay with. You should also check out hotel annual passholder discounts. You can have one even if your pass hasn't been activated yet, as long as it is during your trip.

Hi
Sorry to Hijack the thread but if I was to get the AP in my daughters names (she is 20 and possibly will be returning during the year) will she need to pay for everything? Never having used a magic band before I'm not sure how they work, are they linked to your credit card?

The AP holder needs to pay to use discounts - they usually want to see the AP card and an ID to prove it's yours. Your daughter could charge it to the room using her MB and you could have YOUR credit card linked to the room folio and that would be allowed I believe. But your daughter couldn't have the AP and you try and pay with your credit card at the till. HTH

There were very few places that got the 10% discount. For me the old Dining discount was fairly worthless so I always had TiW.

Go here to the old booklet and you can see where the discounts were ...

This ! The decent dining discounts are a new thing this summer, and I would not expect them to continue into next year if they get the anticipated crowd bump from Pixar Land or any pre-Star Wars action. I have always gotten TiW regardless, as the other perks (20% off of alcohol and at all lounges plus free resort valet service when dining there) are both worth a lot to me.

As for AP discount, as mentioned above, it is only supposed to be given when the AP Holder pays, however it seems most places will apply an AP discount and let you pay yourself if the AP holder is with you to show their card and ID.
