Considering a solo trip

You will LOVE it!! I go solo every October for the Food and Wine Festival. DH unfortunately isn't a "Disney person" so he'll come maybe once in the summer if he goes at all.

The first time I went I was very apprehensive. I had a ball!! I ate in my favorite restaurants alone, went on my favorite rides alone, and always met someone to talk to if I wanted! :) At night I strolled the Boardwalk and just enjoyed myself to the MAX!! What I really enjoy is doing what I want when I want. If I want to hang at the pool all day, so be it!!

I have a 1BR BW view booked (yes I like the comforts of home and the Jacuzzi) October 6 through the 12th and can't wait.

So please; try it. I think you'll really enjoy the experience. :thumbsup2

I get a "mom trip" once a year, will be doing my 2nd solo WDW trip this October. Last year I sailed solo on the NCL Epic and had a ball!

I am pretty comfortable travelling by myself as I did that a lot when I was working.

Hi All,

I have a boardwalk view studio booked for Oct 13-20. Due to a lot of animosity in my family right now, and the fact that I've separated from my hubby, I'm considering making it a solo trip. I've never done this before. This will also be my first trip to the F&W Festival and I don't want anyone to spoil it for me by bringing all of their complaints from home with them. (I dearly love my family, but they are all disagreeing right now:confused3).

I'm a little nervous about going to wdw alone. Those of you who have gone solo, could you give me some support? Encouragement?

I've gone solo twice now (one was a couple of days booked purposely before my friend met me there). My DH works too much and can't take the time every time I want to go, and my children are adults busy with their own jobs and schedules, so I started going alone. At first, I thought I would be uncomfortable, on the contrary! I found myself totally within my comfort zone.

I too stayed at the BWV. It was a perfect location. One solo trip was for a D23 event, where I met another woman who was there solo, so we did some of the event happenings together, other than that, I planned for just me and it was perfect.

I spent some time in EPCOT, had lunch in France and then walked over to the Dolphin and had 3 mini spa treatments in their spa on a special! Went back to my room, took a nap and headed out for event happenings! Perfection. NO one to listen to who was tired, who was hot, who didn't feel like doing this or that. I even sat at the bar in ESPN and had a beer and a salad by myself, enjoying every minute.

Another trip, I booked the Wild Safari Tour in AKP and loved that I didn't have to worry about whether or not my travel mate was into it, since I was all by myself. It was a great tour, and whether or not I travel with someone in the future, if I feel like doing a tour, I'm doing it :cool1:

Try it, you may just find that it's the beginning of many happy solo trips...I know it worked out that way for me. As it is, with a husband who never commits to any one trip, I may just be heading there myself in November...and with a gigantic grin on my face! Of course, I hope he joins me, but if not, hey ya only live once :smokin:

I just finished a solo trip and it was great!!!

I had a golf weekend planned with my brothers. They both bailed within two weeks of departure and my wife encouraged me to go solo. I golfed, fished, people watched, pooled, ate whatever I wanted, resort hopped, and just enjoyed the opportunity. I was there 4 nights and never went to park. Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.

I made a ton of trips as a soloist and I had a great time no matter when I went but Sept-February were my favorite trips. I am comfortable chatting up strangers and made friends on most of the trips. I was invited to share tables with other soloists on many occasions and enjoyed the interaction with fellow Disney peeps :)

The lounges at the resorts are great places to meet fellow solo travelers as well :)

Do it. Replenish your soul.

Oh, I hope you go and enjoy your trip! I have done 2 solo trips and absolutely loved them. I did tours that I never get to do otherwise. I especially liked Wild Africa Trek at AK, Keys to the Kingdom at MK, and the Behind the Seeds at Epcot. I sat on the balcony with coffee or wine when I wanted to relax, took a short nap if I was tired and didn't worry about pleasing anyone but me. I did find dining alone a little uncomfortable but even that got easier when I read a book on my iPad. I had planned another solo this year but it ended up being with others, which was fun, but I rather regret not having my solo this year. I hope to make a solo trip an annual event. If you have BW view during F&W then you will be guaranteed extra fun and great weather. And don't miss MNSSHP. Watching the people in their great costumes and seeing the Halloween parade and fireworks is priceless. And make a stop at TOTWL one evening to view MK fireworks from there! Have a blast! :cool1:
P.S. I will be in a BW view 1 bedroom with my DDis-in-law from Oct. 15-22. So if you want to meet up sometime you can PM me.

Agreed! I took my first solo trip last month and I loved it. I did everything on my own time, did the attractions I wanted to do. I am now considering doing a cruise solo.
