Considering a mid-size resale contract - thoughts?

Isn’t the whole point of a gratuitous transfer that they same rules carry over to the new owner vs. a traditional resale? So in order for that not to happen in this case, Disney would need to change the rules for existing Direct Owners? “Sorry Direct Owners - the 125 pt and 25 pt direct contracts purchased together (when 150 pt was minimum) no longer count and you now need to purchase one contract of 150 pts to continue qualifying?”

Obviously I don’t see that ever happening bc it would impact SO many owners so I guess I’m stuck on the legality of such a rule only applying in a gratuitous transfer…
Yes, I agree. My understanding is you can add people to your membership and then pull your name off and then they own your membership. In this case, however, if you have multiple kids and you want them each to have their own membership with direct benefits, you would need to have multiple memberships with direct benefits to give each one. But if you want to transfer individual contracts out of your membership to individual kids and you want your kids to each have their own direct benefits, the individual original contract has to have direct benefits and then each kid will get their own membership number. If you give them a patchwork of direct contracts that do not individually carry direct benefits but only carry them together, then you would need to go the membership addition and drop route. You can still transfer the direct contracts and they count as direct, but the kid may have to add other direct contracts to get to the required amount of it has changed. We have more than one kid and only one membership with direct benefits, but our membership has several contracts within it that each individually carry direct benefits.
Again, this is my understanding from how it was explained to us!

I've got a 350 pt blue card SSR contract, a 175 pt resale SSR contract and a 230 pt OKW resale contract.

55 years old.

I've been thinking about selling them all and buying multiple CCV contracts, totaling about 600 points.
I've got 2 adult sons, and I would like to put each one separately onto these new contracts equally for me to use now and for them to use in the future.

My current thoughts are to buy two 150 DVC direct contracts at CCV, adding a kid to each one at time of sale to get them Blue card status through 2068...and then buy two 150-point resale contracts at CCV as well, again putting one kid on each.

Am I crazy for considering this? Is there a better way?

Isn’t the price of CCV direct very high for what you are getting? I would just buy Riviera to get a better price and longer contract. Or the new poly.

I dont think this is the best idea. Unless the finances dont matter and you adore CCV.

Maybe sell the SSR resale and OKW resale and buy CCV resale. This would make more sense financially.

But I think the best idea if you like that area is to wait until Lakeshore Lodge is done and sell all to buy there.

Just remember that if you have different owners, then each will be its own membership.

You won’t be able to use the points together for a single reservation without transferring between the two.

DVC is no longer making expeditions to the one transfer rule for owners of multiple memberships.

So, before doing it, think about how that would impact your trips.

We have multiple UYs and just book some nights on one and some on the other. We have MS note it’s continuous and so far, never asked to change rooms.

Transferred points also don’t always play nice online during home resort priority, and you can’t see them unless you are booking as they sit in a temporary contract in your account to hold them.
