Conservative Thread: We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once

I know that the government doesn't always tell us the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I wonder what kind of civil unrest, terrorist activity, or whatever else might be on the gov't radar. Hopefully it's nothing at all to be concerned about.

Tinfoil hat on.....maybe it's has to do with bo. There are more lawsuits....no bc. Can you imagine the flap if he's not sworn in?

Hey, I know it's a long shot but, there are a bunch of these that haven't been cleared up. It would be so easy......if he's legit.

Yup!

Have you looked at the Dodge Nitro? Seems to get better MPGs than the Durango.

IMHO, I would get the one that has the highest MPGs and best resale value and I wouldn't care being loyal to a company that a relative works for. If gas jumps back to 3 or 4 bucks a gallon, you'll be glad you did.

The mini-van is going to be the best value if you really have to stick with a Chrysler product. You might just have to suck it up and be seen in one again.

I have to agree with Charade on this one. I don't think these gas prices are going to remain palatable indefinately, so I'd go for the better fuel consumption. Do you really need a car for 7? I only have 4 in my family and I find that by driving my 5 seater I get out of driving for a lot of carpools.:lmao:

I do need room for 7 - we have 5 in our family, but I babysit another 2 or 3 kids and need to be able to get them around too.

I'll probably end up with another van - which I dread. I think those are so darn ugly, but they are very useful.

So many things I wanted to reply to, but I don't have the energy. I read it all though.

Had a very rough day. Been under a lot of stress lately, and today was particularly upsetting. If y'all could say some prayers for God to help me to calm down, not worry so much, and de-stress, I'd really appreciate it.

Just remember one thing. We are not in total control. Take care of what you are able and leave the rest.............

Whew, thanks everyone. I didn't even think about the universal health care issue, the last thing on my mind! So there is a belief that Conservatives do not want people to have health care? I don't remember that from my Conservative days! I don't like the idea of universal health care, myself.

But you all are very welcoming, maybe I'll stick around and get assimilated! :rotfl:

And why do people want to ban Nativities? There are many holidays around this time of year, why would we ban symbols of any of them? No Nativities, no Menorahs, no Yule logs, no whatever symbol that represents your beliefs? Seems silly. I wish people worked as hard to stop war, work at an animal shelter, feed the homeless and hungry, helping their fellow man. Go volunteer where the good you do makes a difference in someone's life.

I believe in separation of church and state, but I think things get a little ridiculous. If the state is using The Bible or Christianity to write laws, starts making me go to church, or telling me that I have to follow the tenets of Christianity, that would be wrong and I would fight it. Putting out a decorative Nativity just does not seem something to get your knickers in a twist about.

I'm off to read.

Well, Finny, you seem pretty cool to me. Welcome!

And here my husband offered to convert to Catholicism. :rotfl:

(Those of you who don't live in Michigan probably don't get what we are talking about, but the automotive field IS like a religion here - kind of like an ethnic thing too).

:rotfl: Ain't it the truth? I'm from a Ford family myself, but I drive a Dodge shhhhhhhhh :ssst:

Okay everyone, this is an honest question....seriously....

We have a Chrysler lease that we have to turn in soon and the offers that Chrysler has are really good. We were just going to buy our lease, but believe it or not, the deals on new cars are so good that we're going to go new. I was told by my sales guy (we know him well), that because we are turning in a lease and because of employee incentives, we'd get $11,000 in incentives on a Chrysler Aspen (similar to a Durango) and that's before my dad's Chrysler employee discount.

Here's my dilemma - it's a gas guzzler - 13 city, 18 hwy. Currently, my minivan gets about 15 city and 22-24 hwy. We need to have a vehicle that seats 7 and it must be a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep product. (Long story, but we always have a GM product and a Chrysler product to keep both sides of the family happy). I really don't want another van - I hate vans, but I'm wondering if I should just suck it up and buy a van anyway, even though I'd like the Durango/Aspen instead.

If I get the Durango/Aspen, do you think I'll regret it? I have heard rumors of Obama possibly taxing gas guzzling automobiles higher than hybrids and other cars. I'd love to get a Durango hybrid, but that auto is $50,000!!!!! Can't afford that.

I've looked at the Dodge Journey, but the gas mileage on that isn't much better. Can't think of it off the top of my head, but I wasn't impressed.

Your thoughts on this? I need something that fits 7 people and it must be a Chrysler. Think I'd be stupid to get the Durango? It will be a buy, so I'll be stuck with it for a long time (and I'm talking Obama's tax policies on gas/autos specifically, not the car itself).

Thanks! (Hope I made sense. I have a four year old talking "Thomas" (the Tank Engine) to me so I'm having a hard time thinking...)

I have an Aspen and I LOVE it. It's the perfect size-large w/out being a school bus. It's very comfortable and because it is, I think this summer we'll take a road trip-the first in years.

 It will get better. You have lots of friends here who listen, so if you fell the need, vent if that helps.

I am so glad you said this. I was at my mom's and we were talking about all of the chatter going on with Homeland Security and all that. Then my dad brought up the BC thing. At the exact same time, the light bulb turned on for my brother and I. There could be a link here. They very well could already know something we only suspect. It's scary to think what might happen.

I'm starting to feel very conspiracy theorist. My tinfoil hat is securely on. But it's freaky. Very suspicious.

Will do, SD.

You betcha - and hugs to you too. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

That's good to know. How long have you had it? It looks like a nice car - is the gas mileage horrible? Our dealer is going to allow us to take it home for the weekend, so that will help us with the decision, but I'd also like to know how "real" people like it. Thanks!

I hear ya. It's a little fishy to me.:rolleyes1
