I'm home! Thank God. Another eventful Thanksgiving, as par for the course these days. Where's the smilie of banging your head against a wall? That would be me right about now. :headache:

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful last few days.

I'm going to start catching up on the posts now. Thankfully y'all didn't blaze through and create another thread while I was away. :rotfl:

:woohoo: Look who made it back safe and sound!! HI SD!!

Known he was liberal for years. Unlike those on the left, some of us can see past a person politics and enjoy their music, acting, products, etc. Nice try though. Do you guys PM each other to get a group together before you do these drive byes? Just wondered because none of you ever seem to come alone.

I can be seen in a Turner film as can many of my reenactor friends who are all about as far from Turner type liberal as you can get. Just cause I disagree with his politics doesn't mean he's incapable of making a good film - although my film left something to be desired (Gods & Generals  ).

You're kidding me! My dad's a reenactor too (in his spare time)! From what I remember, some of the members of his Company were in both Gettysburg and Gods & Generals. :goodvibes

By the way, can I just say that some of you guys posting pictures of your guns and discussing the laws in your states for concealed carry, etc., just warms my heart to no end.

Here ya go, loco, just to warm your heart a little more.

Gods and Generals wasn't really that bad, it just wasn't as good as Gettysburg. I also think that since Stephen Lang played Pickett, they should have had someone else play Jackson in the prequel. I'm hoping they eventually make The Last Full Measure and complete the trilogy.

Welcome home SD

I know what you mean. My dad loves to argue and loves to make up stuff to argue about. Normally, I ignore him and just smile because I know he's trying to start something. BUT, when I decide to argue, I'm good at it. I'm not going to argue unless I know at least some of the facts. So imagine my response when he's sitting at the table and actually said that the Muslim religion and Christianity are almost the same. I was nice, but started naming things. Then it was the Koran and The Bible are almost exactly the same, it was just that some interpreted them differently. :rotfl2: He didn't like what I said so it ended with him saying "You just don't listen. There's no use in even talking about it." Now, I know that not all Muslims are extremists. My DB's best friend is from Pakistan and is Mulism, but they don't believe any where near the same things we do. Since he likes to start stuff everytime we all (extended family and all) get together, a few enjoyed me telling him what facts I did know. He couldn't deny them. But, understand this is a person that rarely attends church and believes anything that is on Discovery or History. I like them, but WOW. And, he likes to watch a couple that has a show that I can't remember, but her name reminds me of Godzilla.

Interesting in a  sort of way -- from the Chris Matthews Show...

so....if I'm reading this correctly, the rest of the world was 'unsettled' by H's election, because of his middle name ....
the terrorists from the Middle East are mad at us because we have 'disrespected' them in the past
now that we have a POTUS-elect with the same middle name as lots of people in the Middle East, we'll be able to diffuse this anger?!?!?!?

Oh goodie, who knew that the fact of someone's middle name could have the potential for bringing about so much peace in this world?!?!?!?!?

But, now we have heard it from Tingly himself -- H, by virtue of his middle name, will turn around that hatred that terrorists have felt against the mean ole US of A all these years....I'll remember this the next time I'm criticized for referencing it.

arrggghhhh....

So Will the OS call Tingles is a racist because he finally mentioned what Obama's middle name is?

:rotfl2:

Heee....the ads at the bottom of my page are for shopping.com - what are they listing? Guns!

That's the first thing that I noticed when I loged onto this thread a moment ago. Too funny. :lmao:

OK. Is making a big to-do over Obama's middle name a good thing or a bad thing? I thought it was a bad thing? These people are very confusing. There's been a big uproar on here about referencing his middle name with many of you being attacked for it but yet now people are saying that because of his middle name he'll bring on world peace? Will everyone please make up their mind?

Frankly, I didn't know that one middle name had so much power over people. I guess so. The DIS has been a prime example of it recently.

Yes, because one of them accidentally PM'ed me once.:lmao: It was the most hysterical thing ever!!:rotfl2:

Oh-my-gosh! Now that's funny! :lmao: I had a feeling they did something like. Back during the primaries I was ganged up on by OS a couple of Saturday mornings when I was pretty much the only HS on the Hillary thread but to hear that they really do PM each other? :lmao:

Well, this is a little hard to conceal but I could (with my permit) if I wanted to.

Michelle, I'm SHOCKED! Nice weapon!

I liked the book better than the movie.

Hey Humphrey, off topic: May I ask where you got the Chip and Dale pic for your sig? They're my favorite.

Have you guys ever seen this? It's Glenn Beck and a friend of mine posted it on MySpace. It describes the OS nicely-

Hope that works. I have another would I'd like to post but that might not be a good idea.... who knows who's watching this thread...

Even though I'm Humphrey Bear, Chip and Dale are my all time favorites. I'm pretty sure I got it just searching for Chip and Dale Christmas images on Google. It is from Pluto's Christmas Tree and is on of my favorites. Please help yourself to it from my sig!

:thumbsup2

True. The problem was that it was based on the book which overall is a weak book. The son just isn't as good of a writer as his dad was. The other problem is that it tried to encompass too much...wait a minute so does the book. I do think that it could have been the best movie about Jackson ever made if they'd just committed to making it the Jackson movie that it could have been, and I loved Stephen Lang in the role.:goodvibes

Gettysburg is my absolute favorite. It's long but its focus is narrow - Gettysburg - and they can develop the stories. The book was a Pullitzer Prize winner for a reason - it's good!

It was fun to be involved in the making of G&G. I went down three or four weekends and did some scenes and I can be seen in two shots in the movie if you know where to look, My husband also went down two weekends and has his 2.5 seconds of running past the camera in the Chancellorsville attack scenes. If they would ever make Last Full Measure (highly doubtful) then we would both want to be involved with that as well.

Wow! That's pretty awesome!!:)
A "movie star" is amongst you!:cool2:

Darn it, I missed all the gun talk earlier. :headache:

Newsflash for the gun manufacturers...most of the women who would even consider owning a gun in the first place, are not "pink" kind of gals;)

ITA!!!! :thumbsup2

Who says that Christmas shopping has to be hard this year, with beauties like these just a click away?

In my best Forest Gump voice, "And that's all I've got to say about that."

Speaking of old movies, (although not that old) watching a great Christmas movie - Yippee Ki Ya Mother...I mean Die Hard :lmao:

Now THAT is a GREAT Christmas movie. :thumbsup2

DH's grandfather was an attorney and loved to "argue". Except, he said he was "debating". He would have his feelings hurt if no one would debate him. His grandfather would then pull my DH aside and begin the "argument". DH usually sat and listened until he fell asleep. He was just a little boy at the time. DH still laughs when he talks about his "arguments" with his GF.:rotfl:
