Well, it does get to you, first. YOu have special powers over the storm then, right? Whatever you do, don't send it to Canada. They like to make it windier and colder and then send it back to us! LOL

18 inches of snow! Yikes! I have seen that much snow maybe 3 times in my lifetime. We had some nasty ice here in March, but it had melted by the end of the day. We haven't had anything stick on the ground and be more than an inch in about 4 years. Shame because I like snow, as long as I'm not forced to drive in it.

Yyyyyeeeeah. We're not supposed to get this crap either. It's SUPPOSED to snow about two inches and melt by the next morning. THAT'S the kind of snow you're supposed to get in western Washington. This is BULLY POOP! :lmao:

I wish I could mail you and Honugirl some of this:

 Thanks. All I want for Christmas is about 50 gallons of gas. I'm worried about being able to keep the gen going. Ugh. I am really regretting not trying to get out today. I think tomorrow I'm going to call my neighbor and ask if my kids can come over to play so I can try to get out to get gas and a few other things that would make life easier if we lose power for a week or more (which is what usually happens any time we get significant ice or wind...lotsa trees around here to fall down and take out the power). I really should have done it today, but I was afraid of ending up walking with my kids. My daughter outgrew her snow boots, and she'd be in tennis shoes and cotton socks. Worst possible thing. Well, other than sandals.

That's for sure. Our really horrible winter weather blows down out of Canada too.

Yup, that's for sure. I'm sure it's warmer up in the Yukon right now because it's so freaking cold down here!

Thanks! That'll keep me warm tomorrow.

I'm debating whether to go to my parents house tomorrow, which means that I have to go to the train station 2 hours early tomorrow:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: and hope it's open that early so that I have a place to wait. Or bag it all together and travel down on Christmas Day, meaning that I miss our typical, really cool Christmas Eve stuff. There are no train tickets between now and Christmas available, so it's tomorrow or Christmas Day.

:confused3

Well, I'm back on the dis. Gotta love insomnia.

Stinks being wide awake late at night when everyone is sleeping, doesn't it?

I just came back in from putting traction cables (aka chains, but they aren't chains) on my car so I can brave the snow and ice in the morning to go get gas for the gen and a few other things in case I don't get out again until after Christmas. I've never put them on before. In the past I always just bought studs in November just in case I needed them, and left it at that. It took me awhile, and I begged and pleaded with them a lot...but I did it! I'm pretty proud of myself (and kinda worn out  ).

Congratulations! You are now qualified to work at Les Schwab. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I hope you're able to get out and get what you need tomorrow.

I'm supposed to get up in 2.5 hours to get ready to go "home" for the holidays. It's going to be a really long day... Once I get there (if I get there...) I'm supposed to go to my little nephew's birthday party. That's going to take what little energy I have left. But hey, they'll have cake. mmm, cake. I hope it's a good cake, not that crappy banana cake, but good white cake with raspberry or something or chocolate. Yum. I love Costco cake. Maybe I need to go buy myself a Costco cake......

 I'm proud of you, too. Good luck in getting a generator.

Yes. yes. A good Costco cake. :thumbsup2 I hope you are able to make it "home".

Shut up! :rotfl2:

Oooooh Costco cake. Totally worth blowing up your blood sugar over. I love Costco cakes. Yummmmm. On a side note, my best friend said that if I make it off my road and up to the highway, and if I swing by her house (a few miles down the highway) she'll give me cheesecake. They were supposed to have her husband's birthday party tomorrow, but the weather kinda fouled that all up since most of the guests were coming from the other side of the Narrows.

Where is "home" anyhow? I'm just curious how far a train ride youz taking. I'd never ridden a train except at Disneyland until we did the dinner train last year for my friend's birthday.

 I'm proud of you, too. Good luck in getting a generator.

Thank you! I have the generator, and it is full of gas, and I actually know how to start it and hook it up to the house. I'm just hoping to get out and get more gas for it. A tank will only last me around eight hours.

Shut up! :rotfl2:

I knew I'd get a rise out of you over that... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love Costco cakes too.:lovestruc  :lovestruc

Mmmmm, cheescake, I can do that too... :thumbsup2

Vancouver, so it's about a 6 hour ride in all, with the short layover in Seattle. It's a nice ride. They have movies and some other stuff. The food is good. They serve Ivar's Clam Chowder! Yum! The scenery is decent for a good part of it too. It goes along the water. I'll wave to you when I go under the Narrows bridge tomorrow.

You probably don't want to know. :lmao: I think it is a ton of heavy cream in the mousse fillings. I know I have to take a bunch of lactase pills to eat it.

Hey, if it doesn't have fat in it, it doesn't taste good! I haven't met fat I didn't love, except the stuff around my middle! :lmao:

I'm sorry. Sleep deprivation apparently kills the reading comprehension.:rotfl2: I hope you can get to the gas. It definitely sounds like you need much more.

Cool! That sounds like a fun ride, actually. Definitely give me a wave as you pass under the Narrows. :)

Nah, you're good. You were reading the other thread too, and one of the other Washington ladies said they were going to try to get out and get a gen tomorrow. So you have an excuse. ;)

It's actually not a bad ride. I know most of the conductors now from riding it all these years, so it makes for some pleasant conversations at times.

I'll give you a big lime green wave! :thumbsup2

Ummm..... :confused3 Where'd everyone go?

Sorry I just up and abandoned the thread yesterday. DH came home and we were going out so I had to scoot.

We went to a Brazillian steakhouse in Orlando. Has anyone ever been to one? It was so fun. The people walk around the restaurant with HUGE skewers of different kinds of meat (beef, pork, chicken, sausage). You have a card on the table that's green on one side and red on the other. If you want them to stop, you flip it to green and if you don't you flip it to red. Plus they have a gigantic salad bar, soup, dessert. It was so good and I ate TOOOOO much! The service all the way around was just about the best service I've had anywhere. I'd highly recommend it, but come VERY hungry!

I saw the other thread was closed-probably just as well. I hopped on my soapbox driving over there last night and DH listened patiently, knowing I would eventually get tired of hearing myself talk-and I did! :lmao:

Thoughts to everyone caught in the winter weather, needing a generator. :grouphug: I've never been snowbound, but it sounds like the aftermath of a hurricane, except in reverse. Not having electricity really stinks.

I won't be on here much today-DH family coming over this afternoon and I'm going to do the responsible thing and go out for brunch with some friends this morning! :cool1: I got most of my work done ahead of time, the kids are with grandparents until this afternoon so the house will stay pretty neat.

Have I told...you lately...that I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!! :woohoo:  :cool1:

Pay raises.. yeah, just what congress needs. We're all worried about keeping a job, period, and they're worried about how much extra they'll get!

this is typical congress. where i work, you receive MERIT increases based on your performance and skill set. congress has shown little to nothing in the skill set category, and as performance is concerned, they need to be written up with a performance improvement plan (which is a warning!).

we know nancy pelosi doesn't need a raise (sell your private plane, you cow!), nor do the few billionnaires in congress. this year, they should have said "no" to the raise and insisted the money be reinvested into something reasonable which did not receive funding during the last fiscal year.

CONGRESS! TAKE YOUR QUEUE FROM SARAH!!!
