We have been to AK probably 10 times or so in the past and we have never taken the train to Conservation Station. What exactly is over there? DS is a big animal fan and I imagine we will spend at least 2 full days at AK on this trip so we will have time to fit it in. Is it worth seeing? Anything particularly exciting for a 3 1/2 year old?

We visited Conservation Station on our last visit it is geared towards education. As far as the child goes they do have a petting zoo and while we were there we saw characters -- Pocahantas - Stanley- and Rafikki. They also have a veternarian station there and are sometimes treating animals from the park in front of a large window so you can watch.

They have the petting zoo type area. It was all goats and sheep I think. When we were there they had some of the large snakes out of their tanks for touching and stuff. No way I was going near them. We seen Rafiki there--- thats where my signature photo is from. It was a nice train ride. You can see some of the safari animal homes from the ride.

We really enjoy it there. In Feb. we met Stanley, Rafiki and Meeko. They have some interesting things to look at for little ones, (our boys are 5, 3 and 1). There is a cute little show hosted by a little mermaid (not THE Little Mermaid) about manitees. My boys love the train ride there too. In Feb. we did the Safari first thing (short line) then went right over and rode the train to the CS. I think this is the best time to go there, it's much less busy! And then when we returned, there were LOTS of people heading over there. We were glad we got it done early. :)

Thanks for the answers.

It sounds like it will definitely be worth seeing. :)

I'm like you...been there, never done that. I'm a science teacher and have wondered if I'd enjoy it more than my kids. Nothing worse than mom being all educational on vacation! In other words, they won't be bored will they (ages 8, 5 & 5)?
