hi I took my son to Disney last Sept and got a notorized letter of consent from my significant other ( his father) because i was travelling alone with my son . Am taking my son again this Sept (just me and him) can i just get my SO to amend this letter or should i pay another 50 bucks for another. btw we were never asked for it last year . My son is thirteen.

You should have a letter - you never know when they will ask for it. I have taken my son out of Canada 8 times and only been asked 4 times returning to Canada for permission - and never leaving. It is totally hit or miss if you will be asked to show it but it will be a major hassle if you don't have it and are asked.

Your letter does not have to be notorized - if you look at the government website - it just states a letter of authorization. I would have the letter witnessed though with contact information of the witnesses.

Have a great trip.

I never paid for my letter either. But a new one is good. We will be going to Disney this Dec again for the 5th time and never been asked for the letter. We flew it the first year and driven it the last 4 years. I always carry the letter (which I made up and it is good for the length of the passport) and the court order stating the custody agreement. Have a great trip
