Consecutive reservations at same resort

I've got one reservation for 8/8 through 8/10 and one for 8/10 through 8/16. Both at Beach Club in the same room level. I've read that it seems possible/likely that I won't have to change rooms - but it could happen. Can somebody just tell me very specifically when I'm going to need to do in the best case scenario vs. worst case scenario? =) I'm just trying to schedule that change day with alternate plans based on whether I have a room or don't have a room.

Will they be able to tell me when I check in for the first reservation whether or not I'll have to change rooms?

If I don't have to change rooms, can I just go down to the front desk at 7am ish and have the keys recoded or whatever and that's all I have to do? Or do I have to wait for check-in time later that day?

If I do have to change rooms, I don't have a new room until after 3pm, right?

Sorry for asking questions that I'm sure have been asked before.

If we get kicked out of our room, we'd still be able to swim at Stormalong Bay while temporarily homeless, right?

I have done this a couple of times with the most recent being at the Grand Floridian last summer. It was really a very simple process. At check-in, I inquired about the room change and was told that I would be able to stay in the same room.

This was a club level room, but the process would be the same except you would go to the front desk instead of the concierge desk. On the day that the first reservation ended and the second began, I went to the desk early that morning to go through the process. The cast member checked me out of the first reservation and charged my credit card for the outstanding room charges. She then checked me into the second reservation and printed new cards. The entire process didn't take any more than 10 minutes.

I know they don't guarantee that you keep the same room, but as long it is in the same hotel in the same category you shouldn't have any problems. It is much more convenient for all parties to keep you in that room.

You should have it noted in your reservation with WDW that you have a continuing reservation. Also mention it when you get there.

Call up whoever made the reservations and ask them to be linked-- please! It makes it so much easier for you and the CMs! :)

They will try not to move you -- it's easier both for you and the hotel. If they do move you, then you still will have access to SAB -- you can use the hotel until midnight the day you check out!

As long as they are aware that you have a continuing reservation, though, your chances for staying put seem pretty good. Worst case, though, you would check out in the am, give them your bags, and check back in as soon as your room is ready (could be ready early, maybe not).

We switch resorts often and just plan to spend that day at BB or TL until check-in time. That way it doesn't really affect us much at all.

Great minds think alike, we have a BC reservation with the first being 8/8-8/10 and the second being 8/10-8/13. We had to do it on account of the bounceback offer not starting until the 10, and us wanting to stay the days before.

Have a great trip.

Yep. Same thing. LOL. We've got the bounceback rate for 8/10 through 8/16 and the AP rate for the two nights prior.

I did call and have the reservations "linked" or whatever, so hopefully, everything will go smoothly. Thanks, everyone.
