How does that happen? I’m off to Google this. My son also does this puzzle and his answers are the same as mine.

I Googled. No real concrete answers, but it has happened to others. On Reddit, a couple mentioned it could be the browser being used. Safari vs Chrome, but that doesn’t make sense.

That is so weird. I looked it up too and someone said they were getting old games from previous months. Hope someone can solve the mystery.

I haven't been posting my puzzles, but I sometimes follow along. Yes, I had those words in my puzzle today. I also had breaking yesterday in the olympic sport category.

I access the puzzle from my NY Times subscription through Firefox. Weird the colored boxes are there when I hit paste, but disappear when I hit post.

so today I have the same game as others but yesterday was completely different. also from the NYT page

This has been an issue for a couple of weeks or so. If you type something after the boxes, (at least one character or emoji), they will appear.
