Does anyone know for sure if there are connecting rooms at the Grand Californian? I know that some of the suites connect to a standard room, but I'm asking about two connecting standard rooms.
Thanks!

Yes, we had two connecting standard rooms last October.

We also had connecting rooms with a park view several years ago. :)

Thank you so much for the super fast answer!!! :thumbsup2 :worship:

Were you able to reserve those online, or did you have to call the hotel?

We had a room that connected to the one next to us when we had a DTD view so yes, they do. Of course we weren't with the people in the other room so we both kept our doors locked.....LOL

They do. We had them with my parents last trip. It is a request only, no guarantee you will get it. Have it noted on your reservation.

We had connecting rooms with a Down Town Disney view 2 weeks ago. They were right above Sephora. We asked when we made the reservation and then asked again at check in. It was very convient to just have the doors open instead of going outside and knocking on the exterior doors.

Thanks for asking! I hope we can get connecting rooms when we are there in December -- can't wait!

Standard..Isn't there courtyard or cityview?

If I'm concerned about "noise" being a light sleeper, anyone have any suggestions on standard?

Any other tips? Many say that it is a far walk to elevators?

Thanks in advance! Can't wait till summer 09 for 1st trip to Disneyland! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Almost every room we've ever had at the GC was a long walk from the elevator. Since they only have two elevator bays, and neither are what I'd call centrally located....

I'm always amazed at how quiet the rooms are. We've had every "view" there is and no matter how noisy it is outside, once the patio door is shut, it's silent in the rooms.

Haven't seen you for awhile, so thought I'd send a friendly wave. :)

Had to take a little break after the Panama Canal cruise and actually WORK! :sad2: I'd been gone all summer, weddings, funeral, trips......

But now I'm back in trip planning mode again!! :yay:

A "standard" room just means one that isn't a suite. They'll have either two queen beds, or a king size bed and a set of bunk beds with a trundle underneath.
With a standard room (and with most of the suites) you have a choice of view.....a "standard view" which could be either the courtyard (Brisa, I think it is) or the front entry & parking area.
Then there's the "Downtown Disney" view, and "theme park" view.

Without going and looking, I can't remember where the swimming pool fits in, but I want to say that would also be a "standard" view.
You pay more for the DTD view, and even more still for the theme park view.

We've always found the rooms very quiet. Those sliding glass doors really block out noise.

Our last standard room was at the very front of the hotel, over looking the enterance. So we were right there with the elevators, made it quite nice!

We almost always get the std view rooms. We have been over the front entrance of the GC most of the time with a view of the PP hotel and the DL hotel. It was a short walk to the main elevator from the rooms. We often get a connecting room-- though they always say it is a request when we make the ressie.

We also had a std view room one time that was near the main elevator and had an interior courtyard view.

Some of the std view rooms have 2 QU plus a day bed for a younger child.

My sister had a DTD view one time. That was nice in that they could sit outside and listen to the live music (they were right across from Naples restuarant). Also, they had a view of the fireworks at night. They had a hike to get to their room from the elevator.

On our most recent visit two weeks ago, we had a themepark view. We had connecting rooms. It was nice and quiet, too. It was quite a hike from the elevator to our room. I'm glad we tried the themepark view, but I think the STD view is just fine for us. :)

I would like to specify 1 King and 1 2 Queens Connecting............

I know its just a request, but it seems like "connecting is pretty easy to get"...

Can't wait till next summer...Now, hopefully airfare won't increase too much in 09!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
