Does anyone know how likely you are to get adjoining rooms at the Grand Californian? Right now I'm booked in a one bedroom suite but the cost is really bothering me. On the other hand, we have young children and two standard rooms that don't connect is pretty much a deal breaker. The CM I spoke to said they aren't guaranteed but they say that at WDW and it's never been an issue. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Not the world and they do have them but have always been told they will not gaurantee the rooms but they will do their best. Unfortunately the suites are not in our price range but we do rent points and stay in the DVC suites which we think are perfect.

We have always requested (pre DVC) and only gotten it 1/3 trips. It is not a guarantee and it depends on the kind of room booked... though I don't have that info off hand.

We have stayed there twice, and both times have requested the connecting rooms. Both times, we have gotten them. I think (but not positive) that the rooms with one King bed connect to a room with 2 Queen beds. Our rooms were standard view, but not sure if that matters.

We also called the day before check in to find out if our request was honored. We called the front desk of the hotel (not the reservations number), and they were able to look it up. Even then, they still couldn't guarantee it. But it has always worked out for us.

ALWAYS ALWAYS call the hotel directly to request such things , I cannot stress this enough after assisting many families and business travelers alike working in my hotel. The general reservations line is great for looking up rates and such , but when it comes to specifics calling the actual hotel will yield a much higher success rate.

While nothing is guaranteed and it is a request ,speaking to someone on site who works there day in day out can better assist you with your questions and concerns.

Is Disneyland different than DisneyWorld? Because I know at the latter there is NO WAY to directly call the hotel. Even when you call from your room, you are calling a central reservation/information line, not the hotel front desk.

I've never tried calling DW, but haven't had any problem calling the Grand Californian. I've also called Aulani directly, and/or the reservations people will transfer me to the property when I have questions they can't answer.

Never had a problem calling the properties direct. I always ask where they located to avoid the central Reg. problems.

Thank you so much! I appreciate all the advice.

So what's the Grand's direct number? I ask because we have an upcoming stay there planned and I think that would be very helpful. I just assumed that Disneyland hotels operated the same as Disneyworld, where it's impossible to "call the front desk."

This number is listed on the website as the Hotel Operator: (714) 635-2300
