Connecting or Adjoining Rooms?

When I want to ask for two rooms with a door in between them, is that a connecting, or adjoining room?

Connecting are two rooms beside each other with an interior door between the two. Adjoining rooms are two rooms beside each other and may be connecting but may not be also.
