I just called MS to make sure they put in my medical request for a ground floor room.
I also asked her which area would be the closest to the main building and AP.
She told me Congress Park, and put me in for a request there.
How is Congress Park? This is my first time at SSR since purchasing, and I am just not familiar with the resort.
Thanks.

Congress Park is wonderful! I stayed there in August, have requested again for Dec. and also for our trip next August. The bus stop is within a minute or two walk from the entire building group, we have our own pool/hot tub and it's the closest (you can actually walk) to DTD. It's about a 5 minute walk to the carriage house, high rock springs pool (the main hub) if you will. It's the first set of buildings from the main area and the DVC model center. it's very convenient!

We also loved Congress Park the only time we've stayed at SSR. We have a wonderful view of DTD, and the quiet pool in that area is very nice. If we ever stay at SSR again, I will request that area.

Oh, THANK YOU!
I know so little about the layout. Can you tell I am an uninformed purchaser?:lmao:

Congress Park is beautiful, but I'm not sure about it being the closest to the carriage house. I would think the Springs or Grandstand would be closer. Others might know better than I do. If you do stay in Congress Park be sure to ask for a DTD view.

If you are going to have to use a scooter then I would recommend the Grandstand section over Congress Park. Grandstand is the first picked up and the first dropped off if you are using the buses. It will make it easier for you to load and unload with a scooter. By the time the bus gets around to Congress Park or the Springs it can be quite full.

No scooter, just heavy fatigue.
We will have a car, so bus stops aren't a problem.
I just don't want to walk a mile to get to the food!:rotfl:

congress park is closer to DTD.

springs and grandstand are closer to the AP and main building.

Springs is the last bus stop.

Grandstand is the first bus stop.

in your case would ask for Grandstand - unless you intend to eat most of your meals at DD.

I had to - food allergies - so spend alot of meal time at DD.

I agree. Congress Park is beautiful and is closer to DTD, but I sure don't think it's the closest to the Carriage House  Of course, it depends on which building you are in, but I would think it would be Springs or maybe Grandstand. Having been in CP I thought it was quite a hike... though I should say drive since I use a scooter :moped: Next time I'm going to request Grandstand so I can be first on the bus and not disrupt others who are boarding. :flower3:

Its a walk from Congress Park to the main building... at least a 5 min walk.. (depending on how fast you walk).. I would call back and request Springs/Grandstand building..

I called back - I'm totally lost here!:surfweb:
The CM agreed with some of you - Congress would be way too far.
She put in a request for the Springs. After all, I have to be able to get to the donuts (or bagels or whatever) in the morning!
(I'll bring my own coffee - I KNOW about the coffee at WDW!!!):rotfl:

Springs is the last stop before it goes to the parks - so expect at certain times to stand up.

Grandstand is the first stop - it is a little further away than Springs from HH - but it being the first stop - you will get a seat going to the parks.

here is a map -

Congress Park is great, and it's quiet pool is my favorite of ANY of the DVC resorts. You can do a lot worse than Congress Park.

Thanks again, everyone.
We have a car, so the busses will not be an issue for us.
We are actually attending a convention during the days, so it will just be short trips (if any) to the parks.
Okay, who am I kidding? I will be at the parks every night....:rolleyes1

Congress Park sounds like what we are looking for. We want to be able to walk to DTD.
