Congratulations Spirited Away!

Just what the heck is Spirited Away????

I happened to channel surf by the Academy Awards just in time to see the first presentation and since it was for animation, I decided to stay tuned.

After the award was given, I turned from the Oscars and did not return.

I had at least heard of all the other nominees, but just what was Spirited Away anyway?

From the brief clip it looked like any other anime flick, which can be fun, but are hardly what I consider Academy Award material.

Can someone clue me in on the appeal?

It was distributed by Buena Vista but not very widely. I have read nothing but wonderful reviews of it and now I'm hoping that this win will cause it to reappear in theaters. I saw the other four contenders but never had the chance to see Spirited Away on the big screen.
