confusing MDE/ticket question

Rather confusing (sorry) MDE/ticket question:
Our son & his girlfriend are going to WDW in a few weeks. I had 5 day NE hoppers from over a decade ago (so could not be entered into DME), & they wanted to book FPs.
So I put a 6 day hopper on his account just to make the FPs, then updated the 5 day PH to a current pass when I was there a few weeks ago. I just recently assigned the 5 Day to him.
So the dilemma:
Their MDE is in the GF's name (I have username & PW, & she is on my F&F list). DS has both passes under his name (no email) in her MDE, but I cannot see any of their passes when in MDE. Since they are only going for 5 days, and will not be going back anytime soon, I would like to get the 6 day ticket into my MDE (I have an AP, and would use the 6 day for a friend/relative going with me next year).
The only way I can figure to reassign the pass is to:
Add myself to their reservation (they are in a 1 bdrm villa, so no problem with capacity, and no extra adult fee as it is through DVC)
Reassign the 6 day pass to myself
then, I can (hopefully) have the pass in MY DME. I can then remove myself (or not) from their reservation.

does this make sense? Any idea if it would work, or is there a better way?

You don’t need to add yourself to the reservation.

From the GF’s MDX account, add yourself and invite yourself to link to that MDX via your email.

Once you have accepted the invite, Reassign the ticket to yourself.

Thanks so much! Your suggestion was much simpler, but since I had tried repeatedly to do so & the system wouldn't let me, I assumed there was only a more complex solution. Your reaffirmation that it was correct made me change browsers, and VIOLA! it's all fixed - thanks so much!!
