hi as a nebie i never knew jj as i stay well clear of debate boards !! when i first browsed the site i thought there would be debates about disney things, im afraid i dont see what relevance a general debate board has on the dis site

I agree absoluely with Rob that reading the debate board is a very depressing and worrying experience.

Last year before the 'war' started I used to post on the debate board and was and am vehemently opposed the the 'war'.I expericenced such vitriol and even abuse on there that I stopped going on.I was like the lone voice against the war and posted to say the DISers were not representative of the American people as I know there were many people in the US also opposed to war.

The inflamatory (sp!) words of George Bush last year are echoed on the debate board..........you are either with us or our enemy.How outrageous is that? Yes I was against the war but not against American people.If anything I feel more contempt for Blair than Bush.

If I could archive my posts I would re-post the one where I said last year, I believe the war would make the world and civilisation a more dangerous place for us all to live in.

I don't think it would be appropriate to say I told you so.............

To call it a Debate Board is a misnomer. It should be the "Stand On Opposite Sides of The Fence and Hurl Abuse and Disrespect At Each Other Board".

I've seen a lot of debates by serious people with diametrically opposed views, yet without fail they always try to find common ground and live with any differences that can't be agreed on. On the Debate Board it is more like "agree with me or the wrath of god (or whatever your chosen deity is) will fall upon you". Each side clings to their facts and their truths, and makes no attempt to understand anybody else's position. I find it all deeply depressing...

It's very sad to me that people who have good honest opinions resort to name calling and insults. For me, when a poster resorts to this, their argument tends to lose credibility and I just shut them off.

Even though I didn't always agree with some of things jj said, his posts always made me think and see the "other side" of the debate. I will miss him. He is a wonderful person and I know he has a good heart.

and I have to add..it has been a hoot watching accusers on the debate board jump on any new poster calling them jj...apparenaly jj has many forms.

all I can say, and this is obviously just my opinion, ( see how the DB has taught me to ) is that the name calling and personal attacks have escalated. Whether or not that has anything to do with having lost their permanent target, I have no way of saying. And if I did say it, someone would deny it and call me names for saying it.
