We were all excited waiting for BCV to be available for purchase. When I saw the size of the living area I was disappointed at the size. Having stayed at OKW in the 1 bedroom and loving the space, I guess I was naive to think the BCV would look like this. My question: We were going to buy 300 points at BCV, but now we are thinking maybe we should do a resale at OKW instead. We really love the EPCOT area and have been staying at the YC every trip recently. Should we just get 150 points at BCV and a resale at OKW for 150? Or should we just forget about BCV and go for OKW? What would you do and why? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

If you usually stay at the YC, a standard hotel room is surely smaller than whatever they'll have at the BCV.

I love OKW. We recently did a VWL add on, and had no problem with the difference in size between the two resorts. (We stayed in a 1 bedroom at VWL in November.)

What we like is having two entirely different resort experiences as our "homes."

That's really up to you. Personally, if you don't plan on using the 11 month booking window at both, then one would be fine. You can still stay at any of the other DVC resorts. You just lose the advanced booking option.
I "currently" own at BWV and OKW. I don't know why, just a good resale at OKW I couldn't pass up. I will be staying at OKW for the second time next month, which is nice. Both trips, were booked in under 7 months so I didn't need the priority there.
On the other hand, BW, which I love, I couldn't book NYE because those points were used and I only had OKW points.
My thinking...Sell my OKW, buy more BWV or even BCV....hmmm

Probably confused you more...sorry - imagine how I feel!

Can you wait until you see them in person? I love OKW but I also love VWL. You cannot judge the room until you see yourself. I know the first pictures of VWL did not do it justice. So I think with the BCV it might be the same.

but if you really want OKW - go get it - it is cheaper points and cash wise and the annual fee are cheaper. the problem would be finding one that has your point size.

Good luck no matter what your decision - you will LOVE DVC!!!

Thanks for the input. Has anyone seen the BCV models yet? If so, what is your impression? How do they compare to virtual tour? Also, can anyone tell me the square foot difference between a one bedroom at OKW and a one bedroom at BCV?

Thanks a bunch!:)

I'm not sure how big the BCV 1 bedrooms are, but here are the sizes of the 1 BRs at the other WDW DVC resorts:

OKW:1016 sq feet
BWV: 712 sq feet
VWL: 727 sq feet

IMHO I'd go with the BCV's, for a lot of reasons... Since you have been staying at the Yacht club, the room you've been in has been half the size of either of the DVC Villa's you're interested in. BCV's are probably just about the same size as BW & VWL, so they really aren't small...

Now, more importantly, I believe the BCV's booking priority might be very important for you. I think there will be definite times when you absolutely need that extra time.. We have found that OKW can usually be booked easily at the 7 month mark.

Those are just the thoughts that jump out at me....

If you are used to staying at the YC, you might really miss the convenience of walking into 2 parks. How much time do you spend in your room? When you visit do you like to be out and about or do you want to get away from it all and relax? That's what you should consider in your purchase.

I toured the BCV models on Wednesday. They are delightful!

The colors and decor will remind you of OKW. The size of the units is similar to BWV and VWL. The kitchen is very compact.

One change is that the connecting lock-off door is now in the foyer (where there is a hall closet at other DVC resorts)- instead of the living room. This enhances the feel of the living room , IMHO. There are some great hidden Mickeys in the furniture and artwork in the rooms. There is a nice desk with Mickey chair in the bedroom, as well as Disney characters on the bedspread.

We've owned at OKW since '93, have stayed at BWV previously and are staying at VWL this trip and have found each location to have it's own charm. BCV will be no different in that regard.

If you really like the BC location, I'm sure you'll enjoy the villas, even if the size is a little different than at OKW.

Enjoy!

The most important question...........what floats your boats??? If room size is your primary concern during DVC stays, then OKW is the way to go. If on the other hand, you love the location near the YC, then I'd go with BCV. We own at BWV primarily due to the location; we spend very LITTLE time in our DVC rooms during our stays.

Good Luck,

I think the other posters have given you some good guidelines. If you spend a lot of time in your room on vacation, where a smaller space may be a negative, then OKW is probably the way to go, as they are the roomiest. However, if the location is what's important to you, then I would say BCV would be your best bet.

I am an OKW owner, and I love the relaxed feel of the resort, and the spaciousness of the actual units. We don't spend a lot of time in the room, since it's just DH and I, but when we are there, it is nice to be able to "spread out". If you have smaller children, who might be napping midday or whatever, room size might be more of a consideration. We have stayed in a 2BR at OKW with 5 not petite adults, and have felt like it had a lot of room, and were not at all cramped.

That being said, we same 5 not petite adults have also stayed at the BWV, which I think are going to be similar to the BCV in their size and layout, judging from the preliminary things I've seen. I must say, while I didn't feel cramped in the 2 BR unit, I did notice that it was smaller than OKW. Again, each of them has their plusses and minuses.

DH and I just returned from WDW,stayed at OKW in a 1BR. Moseyed over BCV, but they wouldn't let us into the construction area. DH did bring up one point. Ariel's Restaurant(at the BC)and the Yacht Club Galley(at the YC)are both closed. CMs we spoke to at the BC said they had no idea when or if the restaurants would reopen. DH felt that when the BCV do open, the lack of restaurants at the YC/BC might be a problem. Now of course, there are many restaurants within walking distnace at the BW, so maybe it won't be as much of an issue as DH thinks. Just a point I thought I'd bring up.

I want to thank everyone for their helpful input. We now feel better informed as to what our considerations should be in deciding where to buy. I'll let you all know when we've become official DVC members!

We just bought at the BCV and our salesrep told us the footage is

studio-356
