Am I correct here -
you can get -
standard view
preferred boardwalk view
preferred pool/garden view
and there is a canal view? or is this called water view?
What are the different catagories if I'm wrong?
The pool garden view is lumped togeher, but the water (canal) view is separate?
I'm asking because I belive MS told me I had a preferred pool/garden view.
I did request a Luna Park view, near the elevator.

As far as the Luna Park view goes what else can you see? Is this toward MGM?

Quiet pool views woudl be about the same looking further out?

And what exactly cna you see on a baordwalk view? Can you see any Epcot buildings and/or any IllumiNations?

I'm thinking about calling back and getting put on waitlist for BW view

Tahnsk for any info. I just don't know anything about BWV and I know I've been asking a lot about the set up there. Sorry!

hi Shan.

okay, there are only 3 categories:

1. Standard View
2. Preferred Pool/Garden View
3. Preferred Boardwalk View

under category#2, you can request different things, such as:

a. Luna Park View
b. Canal/Swan/Dolphin View
c. Quiet Pool View

does this help clear things up?

also about your other questions.
the Boardwalk View looks out over Crescent Lake. you can see Spaceship Earth from all the rooms that are Boardwalk View. the only rooms where Spaceship Earth might be obstructed are the Studios that are closest to the elevator (located above Wyland Gallery).
i think the farther away from the elevators you are, the better your Illuminations View will be.

for a ToT view, you have be facing the right direction. i think you can see the ToT from half the Luna Park views. and half the Quiet Pool views can see ToT as well.

btw, i don't really understand why it's called a Preferred Pool/Garden View.

is there such a thing as a Preferred view which is Garden View but doesn't have a Water View?
why don't they just name it Preferred Water View?

We just spent our first visit at BWV in a Boardwalk view studio Halloween weekend. I requested it back in July I think. Very nice view, just passed the DVC office, third floor. Only bad thing, didn't affect us though, a friend of ours was there at they same time and he was closer up the Boardwalk in front of the basketball game and had to hear that bell RING every night 'til they shut down.

We could see Spaceship Earth directly and Illuminations over ESPN. Nice view.

Now off to VWL in two weeks!!!!!:bounce:

I think "preferred water view" would get confused with boardwalk view because boardwalk view also includes the lake. If someone booked "preferred water view" they may think they will be getting a view of the lake. I think they named it garden/pool to make it clear it does not include the lake, the area closest to the balcony is either garden or pool.

Just an added point. I had a preferred garden view (at least I believe it was) in August. True, I could see TOT if I was on my balcony and turned 90 degrees to the right and also could see the canal below, but the majority of my view was the valet parking lot and service vehicle driveway. So Shan....be very specific in what you request. I would ask for pool view (preferably Luna Park side) or "Boardwalk view" if you have the 11 month window to avoid possibly getting the parking lot view I had. I had studio 4131. Just a helpful head's-up.

Thanks. I did request Luna Park view, close to elevators.

I'm still thinking about calling back and waitlisting for BW view or even stnadrd view.

Did the bell drive them crazy?

hi mb168. do you remember what room# your friend was in? just thought i would make a note of it, 'cause the way you describe it, that bell would drive me crazy!
also, what room# were you in, btw?

I believe we were in 313 and he was in 431. Lower numbers are closer down by Jellyrolls. We were just a few rooms away from The Attic. I never heard of it but it looks like the sitting area near the BCV elevtors except more private with a balcomy over Jellyrolls.

thanks. i've jotted it down.

btw, you don't happen to recall what the operating hours of those games are, do you?

do they start running the games really early in the morning?
and how late at night do they finally stop?

just in case i have bad luck and get the same location, at least maybe i can convince myself that the ringing won't be that bad... heh.

btw, Shan, sorry this is getting so OT now!

We were in the room right above the screen door and that darn bell is one of the reasons I describe the BW as noisy. And the fireworks (BOOM! BOOM! I think the bed shook). The street performers nearby. The people streaming in and out of the shops after Illuminations. And finally, the Cubs actually winning playoff games, causing the ESPN club (at the other end of the resort) to emit loud noises, and later louder people. Can't remember the room number, but when I get home I'll look it up.

(We do go to bed quite early with our little kids - they were in bed by 8:30 - they did sleep like stones through the fireworks - we'd go to bed shortly after the fireworks ended - 9:30? And other people don't think its noisy at all. And we were on the second floor, right above the Screen Door)

Actually, I think that it's the squirt gun game that has the bell, not that it matters. We had a room over the Big River Grille, and I have to say that I never got used to hearing that thing. It didn't get to the "fingernails on the blackboard" stage, but I never got totally used to it either.

It seems to me that the games started in the afternoon and ended around 11:00 or so. It was only in the 7:00-10:00 PM times when it was busy enough to matter, though.

I also have small kids so I'm curious about thsi noise. We always atek oen of thsoe noise makers with that white noise sound. Do you think thsi woudl drown out the noise from below?

Last trip at AKL we were right beside the elevtor and stairs. It was quite noisy so second night I took out the noise maker and we didn't hear anything else after that.

My kids typically have a hard tiem winding down and will fall alseep soemtimes as late as eleven while there. But, after they finally calm down they sleep like logs.

But, I also wonder how the noise level is during the day if we take naps?

Oh, I wonder why they don't lose the bell? Seems many woudl ahev complained about it by now?

Just my 2 cents here, for what it's worth. If you're concerned about the noise, just don't go for the Boardwalk view. It takes more effort and planning to get it anyway (having to call at 11 months, sometimes day-by-day, etc), so why not just save yourself the worry and book preferred pool/garden and request a quiet pool view to begin with? Then someone who truly wants and will fully enjoy the Boardwalk view gets it, and you don't have to worry about the noise. We've stayed at all four on-site DVC resorts and have never had a quieter room than the quiet pool view at BWV.

Actually, I'm not that worried about the noise, I'm just joining in the conversation about the noise and it got me curious SINCE today I got boardwalk view! :Pinkbounc
I called yesterday to switch my BCV ressie for early June to BWV at the 7 month window. No stnards or boardwalk views so i took the pool/garden view. Today I decided to call and waitlist for the boardwalk view but MS told me they had one avavilable. So I took it!

What are the chances I'll get it again? So I want to experience it and if we end up not liking it I won't ever have to worry about trying for it agagin! regardless, i think my kids will like it.

Room 2047/2049.

My kids were singularly unimpressed with the BW View. On the other hand, had we looked at the pool I don't think we'd have stepped foot inside a park. It is a lovely view, and definately worth trying at least once. I'll probably try to book it again when we take guests that I want to impress.

The BW, from what I remember, is pretty quiet during the day.

thanks for this info Jimbo. looks like it's not that bad for us then. we are night owls (hardly ever go to bed before 11pm), so it shouldn't be a problem. i was just worried if the games were open until 2am or something!!
i guess only Downtown Disney is open that late.

anyway, we've been in a Boardwalk View over the Wyland Galleries twice, and we didn't consider those rooms noisy at all.
the only thing that bothered us was when the DJ who was preparing for his Halloween Boardwalk party... he setup his equipment, and then proceeded to test his special effect lights at around 2am or 3am.
those spotlights shined straight into our room, and i completely freaked out, woke up, thought there was a helicopter shining a search light into our room or something!
he kept going at it for about 20 minutes, before i finally was like "that's it." and called the front desk to complain about why there was a guy shining his lights into our room in the middle of the night.

anyway, okay that's enough OT rambling from me... heh.
