Confused on borrowing

We are planning a large family trip that will require a lot of our points. I'm not super clear on borrowing. I know I can borrow a year ahead, but is that from when my use-year is, or from travel?

My UY is April. If I am booking in July 2020 for June 2021, can I borrow from 2022? I wasn't sure since it would be in the range by the time the travel hits, but not at the time I book.

Thanks! :)

For a June 2021 trip, you can borrow from 2022. In regards to borrowing, It doesn't matter when you book it, it is relevant to when your trip is.

For June 2021 with an April UY, you have 2 options, bank 2020 points into 2021, or borrow 2022 points into 2021. You can borrow the day you make your reservation, as PP said, its when your trip is, not what you make the reservation.

Just remember that banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be undone. (but you are traveling early in you UY, so should you have to cancel, you got most of the year before your banked or borrow points would expire on March 31, 2022)

Everything is based on the UY of travel. A trip can Ben paid for wi5 banked points from the UY prior to travel, points from the UY of travel. And borrow points to complete the reservation from the UY after travel.

So, all you need to do to. Figure out is first figure what UY the trip happens. in your case, June 2021 is part of your April 2021 UY.

That means the points eligible for this trip are banked 2020, 2021, and borrowed 2022 points.
