Confused?? Just made a ressie but they had to borrow??

I just got a confirmation by email that my request for an April 2009 reservation went through. It was for only 65 points but I had 110 remaining in my bank.

My use year is June and I had 500 points. I used all but 110 in July/August. I should have plenty for this quick getaway in April that requires 65 points........right? Am I missing something?

The confirmation stated that MS had to borrow 48 points from my 2008 (not 2009, but it said 2008) use year!!! It also stated that borrowing was a "final" transaction.

I emailed them back requesting clarification on the matter but it will take a few days to get the answer so I figure I would run it by all of you.

I hope I explained myself correctly.

What does your online account show? Last year I had a reservation where they borrowed points from the following year even though I had plenty of current year points. They were able to reverse it.

Evidently Member Services is either running a badly upgraded computer program or something. Lots of peope are having problems with their use of points, and point totals. I dont know if they are trying to merge with CRO systems, or are adding charts for new DVC resorts, or what...but it is a mess.

Document the problems and send them an email.

I was suppose to have 65 pts left for next year (2009) after borrowing for our Thanksgiving/Christmas trip this year, but I didn't have any points left?? So, I called MS and asked what was going on....the guy was like - oh, I am so glad you caught this....we made a mistake by borrowing to many points. Anyway, I got it cleared up, but I am so glad I stay of top of my points.

Sorry to hear of your problems. With all of the point accounting problems l have been hearing about lately I am postponing my switch of our AKV studio reservation to a 1-BR for next June.

The website says I have 104 points but my records indicate 11o points??!?!? Will have to do more research on this one.

I have yet to hear from them but I will stay on top of it.

I do recall when I re-arrange my OKW trip for July, they overcharged me points and I was able to get them back (but it took a week or so). This was way back in February or so. Hmmmmmmmmmmm..............guess it pays to stay on top of things.

Have never heard of anyone being able to to do this. They were two totally separate systems although there has been mention that they are working on a program that will join them. I wonder how or if this will impact our dues.
It could be a good thing for those who want to book weekend nights at resorts other than DVC to save points since they can do it in one call. It can be bad thing if it makes wait times longer because members are booking resorts other than DVC.

Finally got to the bottom of this fiasco............it began with the OKW CM not checking me in properly!!! Now, I kind of caught a little bit of flack for being a little hard on her on these boards and then decided to chalk it up to her having a bad day, hot summer day, Disney underpaid employees, employees from other countries, etc after hearing different responses.

It was not any of the above. Just an inadequate CM not doing her job. She surely left me a mess to clean up.

I never wrote the letter to OKW management about how my trip went because after I listened to my friends here on the boards, I somewhat felt I was (maybe) over reacting. Others asked me to write. Others told me not to be so upset.

I just blew it off.............now, I feel, I need to write this letter as this really snowballed into something more than just a CM with a bad attitude!!!!!

Does anyone know the name of the current CM manager at OKW?

I did not ask MS to change the status of the 'borrowed' points because I feel that I have plenty of points in my June 2009 use year and I just banked the points that got put in holding (MS removed that status) into my June 2009 use year. If by chance we wish to make another trip in this use year, aside from my already booked April trip, I still have plenty to borrow.

I just want others to learn from this. I posted an Update to my July trip on the Mousellaneous board. All this began with not being checked in properly. (You may recall I did not like the CM's attitude at check in)

I'm curious, how did a CM at a resort checking you in manage to screw up your points with MS? Did they check you in the wrong class of room or something and it pulled more points from your account?

If that's the case, I would definitely write to the manager if nothing else to make them aware that this could even happen, and they shouldn't have inexperienced CMs in a position to deal damage to our DVC accounts...

Check in was not great. I wrote an update to my July trip on the Mousellaneous board.

Here's a quick rundown:
First off........had near HH reservation but did not get it. DD in leg cast. Dh with bad knee.

Added a night(many months before) and was waitlisted but it came through the next day and all was under one reservation number.

CM did not check us in properly. Keys did not work after a day. Had to have the entire reservation re booked a 2 days later, new keys made, held us up at the front desk for nearly a few hours and would have been more if this other CM did not decide to re book us. Which seemed the right thing to do at the time but this caused points to go into holding.

T & T got all messed us...........

It all began at check in!!!
