Confused about Walking your Reservation

Can someone help me determine the best way to ensure 2 2br's at BCV or BWV for Jan 2 - Jan 8th 2010? I have a total of 452 points to use for a family of 14! (Big reunion). I know walking the reservation is not the greatest idea, but do I need to in order to get these rooms? IF so, how do I do it?

I don't think you would have to and that it would especially hard since in order to walk the reservation you would be booking across a December 31st stay and those nights are probably gone. Call on June 2nd and see which of those resorts are available. I'm assuming you aren't an owner at either BWV or BCV or you would be booking now.

Walking a reservation is only feasible for reservations made at the 11 month window. That tactic is of no value if you have to book at 7 months (because if even one day of the "walking sequence" is unavailable, you've wasted your time).

Peytyo - All you can do is call as soon as MS opens for the day on June 2. If the rooms aren't available, you'll have to waitlist. Good luck!

I don't really want December 23, I really want to stay December 29 to January 3rd. I call on January 23rd and book December 23 to the 30th. The next day I add on the 31st. I may not be as concerned about getting the rest of the stay, so I may not call day by day to add on eventually through January 3. At some time in the process, I cancel the 23 to the 28th because of airfare, or family concerns. The net result is that I booked my NYE stay before others could legitimately (I know, everyone could legitimately walk, but then we would have a problem!) do it.

When you cancel the dates you do not want do they go in some sort of holding account that has to used by a certain date?

I believe the points will only go into the holding account if you cancel 30 days or less prior to your reservation. If it's cancelled 31 days or more, it goes back to the current use year (if borrowed points, it will go back to the use year it was borrowed into).
