I want to put a design on a lavendar shirt. I do not want the white "background" to show, I want it to be clear. What type of transfer paper do I need to use? Please be specific-brands, #'s, etc!

Thank you!

Well my thoughts is that you would use the regular transfer paper (not the dark). But I have NEVER done transfers before, so take my advice with a grain of salt! LOL I know the shirt background is supposed to show through light transfers, but I'm not sure if it is completely clear...or if it is a color with bleed through of the shirt color (which would then be icky looking).

So I've been a lot of help, right?! :)

The rule I was told to go by is:

If you use the light transfer paper, anything that is white in the design will be the color of your shirt.

The dark transfer paper will look just like your design. You do need to trim a little bit more when you use the dark transfer. Also when you print it on the dark transfers you don't print it in a mirror image.

I hope this helped. I am not a pro but have made about twenty shirts.

I only used HP dark transfers - even on white shirts!

here's the results on a fuchsia colored t using a dark transfer:

and on a light pink tee not cutting away the white:

of course, they're about twice as much money as the light transfers!

This is the first time I EVER did any iron ons so take my response with two grains of salt! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
