Here's my question: If it's 8am on the Magic, what time is it when you dock in Cayman?

I've heard that there's some sort of time difference, but I can never really find an exact answer. I think there's an hour difference.

A few weeks back, I booked the very early am excursion with Captain Marvin's, then cancelled it because I didn't think we'd be able to get off the ship in time. Now, however, I think that there's about an hour difference, with Cayman being an hour behind, making it 7 am in the Caymans & 8 am on the Magic.

If that is correct, then I'm going to re-book the very early excursion! But, I am reaching out to all of you cruise experts for the "scoop".

Thanks!

Actually the Magic adjusts the ships time to local time, so IF Grand Cayman is an hour behind, the boat still docks around 7AM (usually the first tender is at 7:30AM) Grand Cayman time. I say IF because Grand Cayman is on CDT (central daylight time), so when the East Coast is on EDT, Grand Cayman is 1 hour behind. When the East Coast is on EST (after daylight savings time expires) we are the same time as Grand Cayman. If you hurry and get to the Walt Disney theatre when the boat docks and get tickets for one of the first tenders, you should make it.

Here's a link to a page which (I feel) does a good job of explaining how the ship's clock is adjusted during the Caribbean itineraries based on the time of year.

On Disney, Ships Time = Local Time. There is no difference. They will leave a note on your bed on the nights when you need to adjust your clocks. And they will tell you which way to adjust (add an hour, subtract an hour).

And there's always the failsafe way to know what time it is. On one of the channels on the TV there's a clock that displays the ships time (and the LOCAL time too).

Do change your watch to match ships time when disembarking the ship. In St. Thomas if you don't change your watch, you may "miss the boat" because of the dirrection of the time change.

Did I mention that ships time IS local time on the Disney Cruises. :teeth:
