If I buy an AP from the WDW website what will I actually receive in the mail? A voucher or the actual pass? We are going in Oct of this year and next so when will the AP dates actually begin and expire?

TIA!

In the past, we've gotten the vouchers, and activated them the first day of our vacation.

You will have to go to a ticket window and exchange the vouchers for the actual passes. The year will start then.

what benefit do you get from an annual pass???if i take a family of five, driving once a year would it help me? we stay at disney....

The AP can save you money on hotel rooms. Depending upon how many days you stay and how much you save, the savings can pay for the AP. There are also other discounts and access to a discount dining card available to AP holders. You only need one AP per room reservation, not everyone in the room needs one.

You can purchase the DDE card for $50 which, for a family of 5 can be a nice savings if you frequent the WDW restaurants. Two buffet dinners will break even almost and anything on top of that is a savings. Also entitles you to free valet parking at the resorts where you dine (just don't forget to tip :goodvibes )

If you want to get 2 trips our of your APs for the month of October then you'll need to plan an earlier trip NEXT year in the month than this year. This year go later in the month and next go earlier in the month and you'll get 2 trips out of it! We always try to do this in Dec.

But beware! The AP is addictive and those two trips can turn into many, and then it's DVC, and watching Ding flights, and DDE, and etc. etc. By the way there are some restaurant discounts, and parking comes at no additional cost.

you can check for ap rates ( i think oct is out) and see if it's worth your while. sometimes there is a tiny difference between public savings and ap rates...( for example with 5 the free dining might be a better deal for you than aps) unless you are sure you are going to make that second trip. they have changed the benfites some but i think the dining isn't free for $50 isn't it a reduced rate( lilke 20%?) we really didn't find most of the other things added up ( except the room rates for Vero beach.. paid for one pass so if we hadn't had to cancel our second trip we would have saved)
