Confused About SW Unused Travel Funds Policy?

I am confused as to how the SW unused travel funds policy works. I understand if I have unused travel funds that just anyone can't use them like in the past. However, say I have $400 in unused travel funds and I am purchasing tickets for myself and Dh can that $400 go towards both fares or can it only be used for my fare?

If the $400 came from only tickets in your name, only you could use it for a ticket in your name. If the $400 came from 4 tickets in 4 different names x $100, then each person could use $100.

I had a situation last month where we had a family trip planned for 9 months. My college age son and his girlfriend broke up right before the trip and I have a credit of $260 for her that will expire in January. I cannot use it for myself because its booked in her name, even though I paid for it. I have offered it to her as a gift, but she kindly thanked me and said she wouldn't use it between now and then (she's in college, full time, out of state) I look at it this way, it was a gift to her and if they were still together, it would have been used. So in my mind, its gone. However I would gladly take a quickie trip myself before January if Southwest would let me have that credit in my name!
