confused about souvenir cups

I am going to Universal in November and I am confused about the souvenir cups. I have purchased the meal plan and was told I can buy the cups and its free refills for the whole entire week that we'll be there. But upon reading other posts its either a small fee for a refill or you must purchase cups everyday. Could anyone give me any info on this? I would greatly appreciate it.

there are actually two kinds of souvineir cups, there are meal deal cups which give you free refills at any participating restaurant, and there are the slightly cheaper cups which allow refills at any retaurant or stand in either park for .49 cents but, they will fill it with ice water for free. If you get a cup make sure to keep it as they work forever,so you can bring it back next year!

Is this the same as at Seaworld? As we have one of those still. We also have an Animal Kingdom one still?...the Seaworld one is blue with Believe/Shamu over it and the Animal Kingdom one is green with Lion King characters on (it also once had a massive elephant head on top)...does anyone have photos of these so that we can see if they're still the same? Also is there a cup that is acceptable in all Disney parks?

Yes...I believe so.

if you buy any mug at the park, not the promo ones, you can use them for a lifetime for a discounted refill.
i bought the dueling dragons mug years ago.

last fall i paid around a buck for that.
in the summer it was much cheaper for the refills though.

if you buy a mug, get one with a handle..
makes it much easier to carry or hang on to.

Its a totally diff cup.Its called the souviner pilsner.It cost $9 to purchase and refills are $6.But your getting 2beers for the price of one on the refills!!!
Now I dont know if you can use them forever.I like too know this myself..

Thanks for the tips. But when I buy the cups, are they called the lifetime cups? Is that what I ask for? They won't make me pay for a sup everyday? When I booked the trip the representative said I have have to pay $8.99 each day for one cup. I'm hoping its the same color cup everyday so they won't know.

Awesome, thank you! I don't drink soda so the other cup(s) is pretty useless to me, lol. Gotta be prepared for my beer though!! And water, but I'm guessing if I want water they'll put it in the pilsner...yes?

if you buy one of the park mugs, they are valid for a lifetime.
these are not the thin plastic tall cups.

the hard plastic mugs do not have any writing on them stating the "deal" for the beverage promo, no writing of good for visit only, not the regular red or blue cups, etc.

they are the character or ride mugs for the most part.
dueling dragons is a ride, near the ride at the stands and in the main shops, you can buy that mug of dd.

when the jimmy neutron ride empties out in the shop, you will find many sponge bob mugs, and other character mugs.

they can cost between $7 to 12, depends on what you like.

they may or may not have a handle.
they have an attacked hard plastic lid to the bottle and same with the accordion type of straw. they are made of the hard plastic and not are see thru.

if you buy the red or blue cup with the promo of universal on the label, those are the promo ones.

of course, if you would bring them back to the park, who knows if they would be refilled at the cheap price.

Sounds to me like your travel agent is pushing the meal deal WITH the drink cup option on you.

The meal deal MAY be a deal if your hungry, but in the long run your better off buying the RED cup shown above and use that everyday of your trip, as appose to buying anew meal deal cup everyday.

If you can I would skip BOTH the meal deal and the Meal Deal Cup and just pay for food as you go along. If your big drinkers, the red cup is great!

First of all if you buy the Meal Deal you DO NOT HAVE to buy the Meal Deal CUP.


You can get the meal deal and in order to have free refills you would have to buy a Meal Deal cup EVERY DAY in order to get free refills everyday. So Everyday you will have to pay 9 bucks, but then you get free refills for that day. They have wristbands so you cant use the cup more than one day.

OR

You can buy one of the giant cups pictured above for $13 bucks (or whatever it is) and get cheap refills all week, which in the long run is a better deal than buying a Meal Deal cup.
