Confused about our "Getawaytoday" tickets

I ordered our tickets from Getawaytoday as you all suggested. I was disappointed when I received a voucher for them in the mail. It says to turn in the voucher at Disneyland. (I am not staying on property so I can't do it there) Does this mean I have to stand in the long long long ticket line at Disney? This is what I was trying to avoid. Or do I just hand the paper to the turnstile agent? I'm confused! I was hoping I would have received the actual tickets in the mail.

I called Getawaytoday just now. I indeed must stand in the ticket line in order to get my tickets. I am very disappointed and I don't recommend this company! What advantage is this? NONE! I had to pay a $10 handling fee for nothing! I have to wait in the line at disney anyway. Go figure. I will never order from them again and think they have quite a scam going! I should have just waited in the line at disney for the same thing. Stupid!

Oh PLEASE a scam because you have to wait in line? craziness.

I have ordered from them before and each time I have gotten a better deal then if I would have booked through Disneyland.com

I mean a "scam" because if I didn't order any tickets from them, I would have walked up to the disney ticket windows and ordered my two day ticket hopper tickets. Same price as was on getaway's website.

Since I did order from them, I got my two day ticket hopper vouchers, I must still stand in the same line, and then get my tickets. Same price. Same exact routine, only I got to give getawaytoday $10 for letting me do this. Isn't that nice?!

I just don't see the advantage of using them. Others may have another opinion.

we used them for our park hoppers and got an extra early entry day.

plus, maybe it was just the time of day and time of year we went (early before opening, two weeks go) but we didn't wait in a line at all for the ticket booth.

we didn't even get a voucher (it came after we left for the trip), all i had to do was show my identification to pick up the tickets.

Maybe it is advantageous for park hoppers over 2 days. But it isn't for the 2 day hoppers. We don't get early entry with 2 day park hoppers. I'm glad to hear there was no line.

I kinda thought they exchanged the vouchers for tickets at the gates not the ticket windows.

Can someone clarify? Also, would that be the same for AP vouchers?

If you didn't get a discount, why did you order from them, especially with their fee? I'm confused.

And I'm sorry that it was not what you expected, definitely, but if I noticed that it wasn't a deal, I wouldn't have ordered, no matter who was suggesting I order from them!

I agree. I should have not ordered from them. I'm just warning others that the two day vouchers are no bargain.

I ordered from them because I wanted to have my tickets in hand. My mistake. I'm ordering direct from now on.

I specifically asked if it was at the windows or at the gates, these you must exchange at the windows.

Sometimes when we expect something to be a certain way it van be a big let down when it isn't! ;)

I was ok w/ this bc first, I got 2 extra days free AND I got 2 EE days! And also the agent told me what i had to do to get the tickets - so I knew ahead of time.

We arrive on the 17th & plan to go our first day on the 18th.....so that leaves me 1/2 a day to walk across the street to the park & pick up my tickets. I know everyone's circumstances are different but this works out great for me.

Bc of the great deals I got there, I've recommended them to several people. Pre-conceived notions can bring you down I admit, is there a way to go get the tickets the night before?

Did anybody get fast passes with your package? I belive I got the EE and the fast passes:) Also by booking with Getawaytoday I saved $70 compared to Disneyland.com :cool1: so I don't mind standing in line for the tickets.

Sorry that Getawaytoday was a disapointment for you:(

No fastpasses, no EE. But I wasn't expecting that. I WAS expecting a ticket in hand.

It is true that the voucher was something I didn't expect. So there was disappointment. Don't worry, I'll still be happy at Disneyland! :thumbsup2

I just want others to be aware of the differences in the two day hopper.

We have used Getaway for years now and have never had a problem. Granted, we go for 3-5 day parkhoppers - but there has never been a line when we get our actual tickets - could be the time of year when we go. It's never been a hassle for us to get the tickets at the booths. I'm sorry you did not get what you expected, but you're right. You will have a blast at Disneyland! And that is what matters. :)

Hey there! We've used them before too, and here's what we did.

First of all, don't worry, there shouldn't be a huge lineup (depends on when you're going, I guess) We had to go to the WILL CALL window, which is separate from the main ticket windows. Both times we went there, there was NO LINE. We went to it the evening before we needed our tickets, right before they were closing. We got our tickets, and didn't activate them until the next morning. (They don't become active until you go through the gate).

It worked out really great for us TWICE and I wouldn't worry too much. It's truly not a hassle. We were worried about that too, but it was such a piece of cake.

Having said that, we did go in the off-season, so again, it may vary depending on season. I think the key though, is the WILL CALL window versus the main ticket windows. It's kinda around the CA side of the ticket booths, and has always looked pretty empty to us.

Sorry you were so disappointed. We were at first too, but then we found out that very few places (except Disney itself) actually send you the tickets, so we figured it was a common thing.

Hope it works out for you!:)

To the OP:
We didn't have a fabulous experience with Getawaytoday for our first trip, either. When I posted about it, some people got kinda upset because they had a positive experience with Getawaytoday (which is great -- I hope most people do have a positive experience with them!!). But yes, it is ok to share your experiences if they aren't positive experiences! :goodvibes
We had booked a hotel right across the street from DL and went through Getawaytoday. We scheduled everything waaaaay in advance to make sure there would be no problems. Right before our trip they notified us that they messed up our reservations at the hotel. They told us they would "upgrade" us to a better hotel. Well, they put us at the Knotts Berry Farm "Resort" (the word resort in that title is a joke). The hotel was a total dive, at least our room -- paper thin walls, rock hard beds, my daughters wallet was even stolen, etc, etc. Since we were so far away from the park, we had to rely on the hotel transport -- go figure their big bus was broken. They only had a little shuttle van going a few times a day. It was ridiculous. But, we wanted to have fun -- and sure enought at DL and DCA -- everyone was friendly, fun, etc. So, the DL part of the trip was magical! But the hotel part was unfortunately, less than magical. Looking back, I should have called Getawaytoday and complained and asked them to put us in a decent hotel. But at the time, I just didn't realize that we had any other options. I had a brother that a similar thing happened to -- and they demanded to be moved, and lo and behold -- Getawaytoday worked it out for them.
Making a much to long story short -- most people on the boards have great things to say about the company. But like you, I think that sharing the negative experiences are helpful for people making a decision about how to book their vacations.
Thanks for letting us know! I hope you have a fabulous time in the parks!

OP, I would be disappointed too. I, like you, love the convienence of having my tickets in hand.

I recently ordered character dining vouchers from Getawaytoday.com and was a bit dissappointed at having to pick up the vouchers at will call. Since I am saving money (they still charge the old price, not the incresed one), even with the $10 handling charge I am happy. We are saving $20 for all of us for one meal, well worth the trouble.
