Confused about online check in

So I went to do online check in and I don't understand the part that says you can go right to your room if you skip getting new magic bands. It then says to bring older bands with you from home. So we should be getting out new bands in the mail any day now. Can I bring these which I would have done anyway????

As long as you have working MagicBands (either new or from a prior trip), you are eligible for Direct to Room.

So when ME drops us at the resort we don't even have to go in?

It's a really poorly worded section that means...well I don't know what it means.

I think they are reassuring us that we still might get "straight to room" even if we didn't get MBs this time but it's weird.

If you don't get the text earlybthem yes you checkin at the front desk and they will supposedly text you with room number later. (Says Molly who had never gotten the straight to room option and cannot remember a time she ever got a text about the room number)

With an 11AM arrival, the odds on a room-ready text are fairly low.

Ok, thanks. The website is as clear as mud and I have over 60 DVC stays I usually get a room number texted to me around half the time. The other half is me calling close to 4 and having them tell me my room is available........

You had the same question we did. You will soon learn that it is referring only to your having no magic bands when you arrive. After Disney sends your new magic bands about four weeks from arrival, go back to the check-in section. You will see that it has dropped all reference to skipping getting magic bands if you want to go straight to your room.
