I will start out by saying I am completely confused. Please don't slam me for asking questions because I am totally lost. First time taking a trip with these new processes. I have an account on MDE with a few tickets associated to it for a trip in 3 months. I just purchased unlinked MBs. What do I do with these when they are delivered? Do I log into MDE and and link it by some number on it or do I call WDW? I assume it has to be linked in order for me to use it? A coworker said I should not link it to my MDE and then I can get 3 extra FPs each morning if I use the ones I purchased and the ones WDW will send. I dont understand how that could possibly work if there is not a ticket associated with it. She said she did it. Is she lying?

1. Do I log into MDE and and link it by some number on it
2. or do I call WDW?
3. I assume it has to be linked in order for me to use it?

6. She said she did it.
7. Is she lying?

1. Yes.
2. Only if you have trouble.
3. Yup.
4. Correct.
5. Tickets are not required for making DAY-OF FP+... only for ADVANCE-BOOKED FP+.
You'd want to link your "purchased" MBs to a completely different MDE account from the one you are normally using.
6. Likely she did.
7. Not about THIS, anyway. ;)

FP+ thread found HERE. Read post #1 and #2 for FP+ recommendations and timing advice.

Thank you as that was very helpful. I am still a little confused though. If WDW sends us the ones we chose online and we get this new one in the mail, how can I link 2 on the same ticket? Or will this require a 2nd MDE login? Should I also unlink the MBs WDW send us?

Yeah, I think that it actually still is allowed by the systems.

You're staying onsite? If so, you'll be sent MBs. And you've also got these purchased ones.

I tried to find the thread about it (b/c I don't really understand the whole thing) but couldn't work out what to use as search terms (the ones I used didn't bring up THE thread).

You can have many MBs on your account. I have 9 so far. They work interchangeably. The MBs link to MDE and your tickets are linked to MDE as are the FP+s. So when you scan the linked MagicBand, it retrieves the info about the ticket or FP+ (or what room is yours to open the door), etc. I could wear all 9 of mine on my arm one day and use them as I wished, and unless something glitches, each one would work.

To get the extra FP+s you would need to link them to a different account that you create (and then I think getting the FP+s is done in the parks at the kiosk? maybe?).

Ha!

I wonder if the OP's coworker is a Dis'er?

Think of a Magic Band as just a method of accessing your MDE account. On your MDE there will be a list of all media that is linked to your account, tickets and cards. They will ALL work to access your account, which stores your tickets, etc. They are 100% interchangeable if activated on the same account.

Now, the extra FastPass thing requires a separate MDE account, because you can only have 3 per day on one MDE Account. Remember, the FPs do not go onto your Magic Band, they go onto your MDE account which any authorized MB or card media can access.

Since you're new and she was running to a meeting, I feel that I should let you know that there are those here who vehemently disapprove of doing what she told you about.

I am neutral; I really doubt I would go through the trouble (but I did something similar as WDW was transitioning to MBs because it was easypeasy for me) BUT I really don't care if others do. I figure that if Disney allows it, they allow it. And their systems still allow it. So...

But gird your loins because it's possible there will be dissent. At least you got a Robo-answer (which is 99.9999% of the time THE answer) first up, so you can move on if you wish. :)

Thanks again for the helpful replies. Like I said this is my first trip using this new process. I am very confused. I am not looking to do anything wrong. I was just curious. She did not make it sound like it was shady. I thought it was commonplace.
