My son has Muscular Dystrophy and uses a wheelchair!

1. Do we need a DAS or no? I think I read no....wheelchair will be explain itself!

2. Do you still enter the different wheelchair entrance? Or have they modified the entrances and you now enter regular line?

Thanks in advance for your help! Just trying to plan our day!

If the wheelchair meets his needs you won't need a DAS.

Most lines are accessible. You can just head on through the regular line. If not, they'll direct you where to go.

Enjoy your trip :)

I can't tell from your post whether you are going to WDW or DL.

There is a DAS thread for each park stuck near the top of this board. The first post in each thread is DAS FAQs.

In general, most people using wheelchairs or other mobility devices will not use DAS (Disability Access Service). Their mobility device will be the 'marker' that tells CMs where to route them and the majority of guests using mobility devices have their needs met by using the mobility device in lines.
Those with additional needs in line that affect their ability to wait in a traditional queue would need to discuss their needs with Guest Relations. They may benefit from DAS to meet their other needs.

At WDW, most attractions are accessible thru the regular line, so guests with wheelchairs will just enter there with other guests (or the Fastpass Plus if using Fastpass Plus).
There are a few attractions where the line is not accessible. Those have an alternate entry for accessibility. The CM at the entrance will see the mobility device and direct you for those.

At DL, many of the older attractions do not have accessible entrances, but the CMs will direct you where to go.
DCA (Disney's California Adventure) was built with mostly accessible lines, so will be much more like WDW.

I would definitely get a DAS or ask if it's a good fit for your individual needs. If you have issues with fatigue, needing to leave a line for medical reasons etc you will simply lose your place in line and have to rejoin starting the wait over again. MD is so much more than using a wheelchair for many kids. Think of what kinds of issues you may encounter and speak with guest services if the DAS is a good fit. Also if during your stay you encounter situations that you may need assistance with, stop by and speak with them again.

I have MS and use a wheelchair and got a DAS. I made sure they know it is for needs not associated with the chair. Too often people see a wheelchair and think lines are accessible so no issues. If your son has issues other than just mobility that affect waiting in line he can qualify for a DAS.

I know kids with MD can have other issues that make them medically fragile and waiting in lines may not be good for them. Or have medical issues that need dealt with at certain times and getting a time to come back to a ride makes it possible to meet the medical needs and still enjoy the park.
