Confused about BWV views

Help me out please.

If we were to reserve a standard view villa, not a preferred view What will we look at?

Am I right that we can see the fireworks from standard view, but not preferred view rooms?

Also what are the new views in the preferred view category. I read something about this, but I don't understand it.

The standard views are located out the front of the resort (non-Boardwalk side). Technically, you are looking at the parking lot and that's why DVC created this category. In reality, you can have a very nice view of the front entrance area and the possibility of seeing the higher Illuminations fireworks. Not every room will see the fireworks but some people have reported very nice views. Some of the preferred rooms also have views of the fireworks.

DVC has now decided that you can guarantee the preferred view you will get when you make your BWV reservation. It's not just a request. If you ask for BW view, they will book it for you then or tell you that it's not available and will give you one of the other preferred views (the pool, etc.) I don't think they have gotten specific as to which pool, etc. you will look at.

hi: we like the standard view rooms- some of them have been really close to the elevators and others have been a fairly long walk. the ones with the longer walk will have stairs that take you closer to the mgm walkway. we had never been able to get that elusive boardwalk view when booking a preferred view at 11 months out, so we started staying in standard view rooms when possible. we've never been unhappy with any of the views- we're on vacation for crying out loud! i was able to get a guaranteed bw view for our november trip; i'll let you know if it is worth all the hoopla. the preferred views of the pools/canals, etc has been fine with us as well.

The farther you are go down the building and away from the elevators the better the Illumination's fireworks view is. BWI/BWV is a very long building so therefore many of the standard view villas have a very good view of the Illumination fireworks and also a view of TOT and Fantasmic's fireworks. For the vast majority of villas, BWV is very blessed with good views and there are very good views from almost every villa whether it be standard or preferred with of course the BW views being the golden ring of views!
