Ok, DH and I are going to Disney sometime in 2006 (we haven't locked in a date yet). We do know that we will be staying four nights on property (probably at POP) and two nights off. We will be renting a car.

Here is my question.....Can anyone take the buses from DTD to the parks or do you have to be a resort guest? Sorry if this has been asked a million times, I swear I looked for it on this forum. The reason I need to know is because DH will be taking the car one whole day of our trip to do a fishing excursion at Lake Toho and I would like to go to the parks by myself. This will be on a day that we are staying off property, due to the fact that I am booking the dining plan with our 4 nights on property and I don't want him to waste his for one whole day.
This way he could drop me off at DTD, I could take a bus to whatever park, then return to DTD in time for him to pick me up. If this cannot be done, my second question is will the security at the booths where you pay to park let you through just to drop someone off? This seems highly unlikely but if anyone can help? PLEASE..........

I am a serial planner and this is driving me crazy......

There are no busses that run between the parks and DTD.

I am not sure about dropping people off at the park. There have been people who have posted that it is possible.

Sorry to break the news to you, but there are no buses from DTD to any of the parks. The only buses at DTD are to/from resorts (with the water parks thrown in there, too). So, for you to get from DTD to a theme park via Disney Transport you'd have to take a bus to whatever resort, then change buses at that resort to get to a theme park. I imagine that would take a long time and be quite a hassle. I think if I were trying to get around the system I'd try to get dropped off at a resort instead, and then take a direct bus to whatever theme park.

I have no idea the answer to your Plan B question about dropping someone off at/near a park entrance.

Good luck!

NOBODY can take a bus from Downtown Disney to ANY of the parks because such buses do not exist. It is not possible to travel directly between DtD and any Disney theme park using Disney transportation.

If you go for the DTD dropoff route, you could take a bus to one of the resorts that are close to one of the parks. The Contemporary would put you walking distance to MK, and you can take the boat or to Epcot or MGM from the Swan & Dolphin, Yacht & Beach Club, or Boardwalk.

Or to cut down on some travel time, go for being dropped off at a resort. OKW is close to DTD and wouldn't be too much farther of a drive, or have him drop you off at one of the resorts I mentioned.

Didn't Disney Transportation used to have buses from the parks to DTD at one time? I thought that was once a suggested transfer point. Or am I thinking that was a transfer point for resort-to-resort? :confused3

Good luck!

I believe they did have buses running to the parks but there were so many people driving there, leaving their cars and hopping on buses that they stopped. At least that's what I seem to have in my head. Now, people are doing that but hopping over to SSR and trying to hop the buses from there! But I think that's too much trouble for most people.
To the OP, I would get dropped off at a resort if I were you.

Since Marketplace stores don't open until 9:30, the resort busses won't be running until then, so, even if you wait for a resort bus, go to the resort, wait for a park bus, it will be 10:30 at best before you get to a park.
