Confused about borrowing

We just added on 100 pts at HH and did MB, so we have no HH points until our next use year (June 2002). We would like to make resevations for Nov of 2002 in Dec 2001 (11 month window). Our reservation would use more than our 100 pts available in June. Can we borrow 2003 pts for this reservation???

In other words, do the borrowing rules apply at the time you make the reservation, OR the date of your stay??? I have read it both ways on the boards.

Called MS today and they were clear as mud. The MB aspect our purchase through them.

June 2001 -- Your first allotment of points. You gave them back.

June 2002 -- You have points to be used between June 1, 2002 and May 31, 2003.

June 2003 -- You can also borrow these points to be used by May 2003.

Yes. You can make a reservation for November 2002 that will use 2002 and 2003 points! It's correct that you just have to have the points at the time of your stay. BUT, once you borrow points to make the reservation, they are moved into the current Use Year for good. You can't "put them back" if you cancel the reservation.

You may always make a ressie at your home resort 11 months ahead of your check out as long as you will have the points available at the time of the stay. You may borrow points into a use year from the succeeding use year. I always end up making myself a chart to make sure I don't get confused.

Using your 100 points with a June use year and a desired stay in November 2002:

On June 1, 2002 you will have 100 points to use for stays between June 1, 2002 & May 31, 2003. November 2002 falls within your 2002 use year. Let's say that your desired stay in November, 2002 requires 160 points. So you need 60 more points for your stay.

You may borrow the 60 additional points from the 2003 use year. Those 60 points you borrow will now expire on May 31, 2003 (same as the 2002 use year points and they cannot be returned to the original 2003 use year).

On June 1, 2003 you will have 40 (100 less 60 borrowed) to use for reservations/stays between June 1, 2003 and May 31, 2004.

In summary: You may make the reservation for your November 2002 stay in December, 2001. You may borrow from your 2003 use year to complete the reservation if needed.

Our add on at HH closed today. So, today, I was able to complete our reservation there for July 2002, using a portion of our 2003 point. I had to wait until the closing was complete before I could borrow from 2003. Not sure if your add-on is complete or not, but if not, you will also have to wait until it's closed before borrowing 2003 points. We love HH and are looking forward to going next summer. It's going to be a long wait!!

Thank you to all who answered. This gives me some well need info for my next call to MS.

TerryS....I have absolutely not given up on BCV (I love SAB), I just couldn't stand the great deal on points at HH -- $62.00/pt with MB. We will end up owning at VWL, HH and of course BCV. We want to buy enough points between VWL and BCV for an 8 night 2BR stay in the magic season. For VWL/BCV we figure between 350-400pts. We'll use the HH points for stays at HH and adding extra days to either VWL and BCV at the 7 month window. I would love to add-on 200pts at BCV, but some recent posts have suggested BCV may be $80-85/pt. It's going to depend on any incentives, I hope at least $10 MB, bringing the price to $70. If so, we may be able to swing 200pts. If it's $85 with no MB, I will be sad as I won't be able to by the number I want, but the good price on HH helps to offset the high cost of BCV. My fingers are crossed for a good presale deal.

In addition to the above, I don't want to have to buy park passes every year. We will buy annual passes and use them for at least two or more WDW trips within a year. The third year we will use our points for a combo of DCL/Vero/HH or an exchange.

Our original plan has evolved (and grown) over the past few months. Originally we were 150 at each BCV and VWL. Are you buying all your points at BCV?

Johnnie, yes we are planning on buying all our points at BCV. The "plan" is to purchase 500 points, but that depends on price per point and incentives. I have also been considering a BWV resale, but I am just not sure. I love Beach Club and will probably want to stay there most often, and I worry if I purchase part of our points at BWV that I wouldn't be able to make the reservations at the 7 month window at BCV and I really don't like packing and un-packing so I would rather do our whole stay at one resort.
