Hello,

I'm considering a stay in August at Bonnet Creek...so far I have 3 different price quotes for a 2 bedroom that are very different - 5star resorts is the cheapest at $695 for 6 nights, Ken and Denise price at $1105, and Sun or Snow vacations at $1700. I know that the rate may be lowered if booked in the 60 day window, but I don't understand why they are so different. I want to book iwth 5star since it is so cheap - but that makes me a little leery. Does anyone have any good experiences with them or think it's better to wait for the 60 day window?

Thanks!

The general rule: The earlier you attempt to book, the more you will likely be quoted for a reservation.

Not everyone shops around. Someone may have a quote for DVC for $3400 and think $1700 is a great deal.

I have always paid $100 a night or less for WBC, but I always book within 60 days (usually within 30 days)

I have stayed at WBC 2 times and paid $100 or less a night for a 2bd deluxe through sun or snow...but I booked within 60 days. Her website it says she can't give very good discounts outside the last minute window, something about not worth it for them...I mean they are doing this to make some $$.

It is def worth it to shop around if you are trying to save some $$. When I booked, the price was lowest I found.

Seems like a few people have gone through 5star.....though not me. Sorry and good luck.

If it were me, I would wait, but then you risk that they don't have what you want when you want it.

I do understand about being leery, I was last year before we rented from Sun or Snow. I was able to check her out with the better business bureau which gave me some comfort.

I think people charge what they think other people will pay and that may vary from person to person. If you feel comfortable with 5Star, I would go with them. I have used Ken Price before and he was able to rebook at 60 days and lower the price. I would also make sure that there aren't any extra fees, such as a confirmation fee, that would increase the price of the lowest quote.

In general the folks who rent points try to get ~$6 -$7/thousand + guest cert fees (even if the fee is not asked for seperately it is incorporated into the price of the reservation) for the points required for a reservation. The different pricing schemes are usually a reflection of the points they have available for somewhat insuring that within the 60 day period they will get a discount. Somewhat like who's assuming the risk for a lower priced reservation becoming available.

The low estimate looks like 5star feels pretty confident that they will be able to get a 2br at 60 days with an upgraded 50% discounted 1BR. Who knows they may have multiple units secured for this time period that they can cancel and rebook without worries.

The highest priced unit is fully loaded and you will assume the risk of a cheaper reservation becoming available. Since this is fully loaded what incentive other than customer satisfaction do they have to look for a lower point priced unit.

The medium priced reservation they are kind of splitting the difference.

Also not that I am accussing any of the renters of doing this, but once a reservation is negotiated at >60 days why bother passing the savings on to the rentee (other than customer satisfaction)?

I refer to the timeshare market as a form of daytrading to get the best deal possible.

I would check ebay. There are tons of Bonnet Creek rentals including from some of the people you mentioned
