I see that many of you bring books for the characters to sign, and I think my 2 DD's will love this as we have been to children's plays here in the city where they do the same thing. My question is, and I have searched the board to no avail, do you make one? Buy one? It seems logical to have it ready to go before you leave, but where do you get one of these things?

You can buy one at the park or make one of your own. The park sells books that specifically say autograph book for $5 (I think). But any book with paper in it will work. It may be more fun to make your own, then it is personalized and more special. But you probably don't want to make it to big in size, since you have to carry it around everywhere.

If you choose to buy one they are everywhere. The hotel gift shops, downtown disney and all the theme parks. My kids wanted to make one for our last trip. I bought an autograph book at Big Lots, covered it with white craft paper and bought Disney stickers from the dollar store. I let my children decorate them however they wanted. When they finished I covered it with clear contact paper so the stickers would not fall off from the in and out of the backpack all day long. My kids were so proud of their books. I probably spent about $5.00 total for both books.

One thing that I learned, which is awesome if you are a scrapbooker like me....instead of using a book - just bring colored, unlined, index cards for the characters to sign...then you can put them in the scrapbook with the pictures of the character. It's awesome to have that in addition to the pictures....it just adds that little something extra. Make sure you bring a plastic zip-lock type of bag with you to put the autographs in after th characters have signed them so they don't get wet...and also make sure you bring 3 or 4 markers in case they dry up or get lost.

The basic blue autograph book is $7.00, there are other versions now that are bigger, with a place for photos on the left side page - only hold 14 or 15 autographs - these are in the $12 range.

I found some very cute ones at the CVS just outside of Disney (as well as Target on 192) that are spiral bound on the top, they were $2.99, and have lots of different character covers. These I think you need to be more careful with due to the spiral binding rather than being bound like a book.

I am not so crafty, and my DDs original book (a blue one) was a gift from a friend who we "toured" Disney with the very first time we visited before moving to Orlando! Our collection has expanded with the new books, and also a couple blue books when we have forgotten ours on a spur of the moment visit!

Here are a couple of threads on these boards about making your own. The first one is using clipart and printing your own pages. The second one is scrapbooking your own pages. Both have really neat ideas and samples.

We have 3 DD's and we went to Wally World and bought them each a spiral bound book of multi colored index cards that have perforated edges so you can remove them easily without tearing them----We plan on making each a scrapbook and removing the characters autograph and adding them to the page with them and the characters photo

I purchased my DD's autograph book on eBay! There are TONS of autograph books on with just about every Disney character you can think of on them. My daughter loves Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs so we go her one with Snow White on it. It was only $4.95 and the seller had free shipping so not bad! Just a suggestion but the ones I saw on eBay come with a matching character FAT pen so it's easy for the characters to hold! :thumbsup2

It is always nice to use those thick pens that are attached to a string that the kids can wear around their neck, that way you aren't always looking for them...

When we were down in January we went to the resort gift shop and purchased a diary( $7.00) instead of the actual autograph book, it was much bigger , had more pages and was alot easier for the characters to hold . We also purchased the big pens and ended up using our own " fat"pens from home because the ink in them seemed to be dried up and wouldn't write. So when we return in August I'm making sure I have our own pens.

After 4 trips to the world and 6 autograph books later, we are trying something different this trip. We are bringing white pillow cases with us and laundry/fabric markers (of the "fat" variety) in assorted colors to gather our autographs.
The books are just collecting dust, now the DK's are older this will be their special sleepover pillow case.

I just have to remember to pack a clipboard or piece of cardboard so the characters have a hard surface to write on!

You can buy a auto book anywhere at Disney or we found ors at Wallgreen's for 1/00 each. Honestly I hated them and I dont' think my kids realy cared for them. They just did it. Of course eing mom I had to carry them. Second time we went they just liked meting the characters and we took pics of the ones we wanted adn Iwas veyr happy not to carry the books and have to get them out all the time.

The books are something I'm considering for our upcoming trip. It's our first trip and may be our only ever trip.

Anyways..as far as pens go. Have you seen the "Cars" pen offered on the back of specially marked pop-tarts boxes? It's $3.99 with 2 UPC's. I'm considering this one. Besides, my kids would like that pen other times too.

I know I don't want to spend alot of money on shirts or stuffed animals, I can get those for a better price at The Disney Store. I just did last week, got both for $2.00-$2.50 each!

You can buy them at the Disney Store which is right in the Orlando Airport. Then you're ready when you hit the park.

I don't know if it's cheaper than buying them at the park or hotel.
