Confused about AP discounts

I am so confused about how to get the AP discounts for a resort stay. I called the main WDW number and the CM told me that I could go online now for a vacation at the end of June. Well I couldn't book that far in advance using the online method. Do you have to wait until 60 days before your planned trip to book a discounted reservation? I called the main number again and they told me that I should just wait until the AP guide comes in or else wait for e-mail information. The whole process is confusing.

AP discounts are only available at this time for trips prior to or starting on April 8, 2006. Nothing has been released for dates of April 9, 2006 or later, which is why you are unable to book your vacation at this time. No one knows at this point if and when Disney will release ap codes for the rest of spring/summer.

When the time comes and the codes are released then you will be able to book with CRO or on-line. Be advised that when booking on-line it appears there is still a cancellation policy of 46 days in advance. If you book over the phone they have the old 5 day in advance cancellation policy. I'm not sure if the on-line cancellation will change, but as of this afternoon when I was looking up rates it was still there.

Scoutsmom,
I understand what you are saying about the cancellation policy, but I'm confused. Can you get the same discount for a room-only ressie by calling and making the reservation or is the discount better when making it online? :confused3

It should be the same rate whether you call CRO or book it online.

Okay got it. So I'm thinking that it would be safer to call and make the reservation versus making it online (if the price would be the same). This way you would be able to cancel just five days before your arrival date versus 45 days. I mean you never know, many things could happen in 40 days that may necessitate you cancelling and having to rebook for a later time.

I"m looking at my confirmation they e-mailed me just a few minutes ago, and it says
-in order to receive a full refund of your deposit, noticifcation of cancellation must be received at least 4.6 (yep, there is a point in mine LOL) days prior to your arrival date.

It does say subject to change. I also made one of the room ressie's on the phone, and was told the new policy (he said for this month..guess they don't appreciate all the changes) is 5 days for AP holders.
