Confused about 1900 Park Fare

In Sep 2007, we went to 1900 Park Fare and it was a sit-down dinner where we all sat in one beautiful room and we ordered from a menu; the patrons weren't divided into two rooms and it wasn't a buffet. The food was delicious and I've been thinking about trying to get an ADR for our trip this December. I now see it's listed as a buffet and so I'm confused. :confused3 I have a vague recollection that there was some construction going on in Sep 2007 and I'm wondering if our experience (a regular menu one) was just a temporary one.

Now I'm worried about the reviews of the buffet. Many of them are awful. Is the buffet really that much worse than the menu-style one that I had experienced?

It's a character buffet now.

I did it in October 2007, I think. I did not like the buffet.

1900 Park Fare was closed for refurbishment between July and October 2007. The a la carte meals were served in Citricos and the character meals served family style (not buffet) in the Grand Floridian Cafe. One of those is where you probably ate.

Yes, that rings a bell. We did have the characters, but now that I see your message, I believe we were in the Grand Floridian Cafe (which we thought was quite lovely). hmmm. . . Good to know now so I'm not shocked when I get there (if we decide to go). It's too bad the food buffet gets so many bad reviews; the list of offerings looks great.

We love 1900! The food isn't spectacular or anything but it's tasty and combined with the great character interaction - it's a great place for a meal!

You might consider dining at the Grand Floridian Cafe instead of 1900PF if you don't mind missing the characters.:goodvibes

I went to 1900 Park Fare in December with 6 adults and everyone was satisfied. It's very simple food there, so it's really nothing innovative or fancy, but just good normal food. I really enjoyed it and the stepmother was goofing around with my dad and DH the whole time. We had a great time!

But it was kind of expensive, so if you want just normal food without the price, but probably not as fun, I would go with GF Cafe. :goodvibes

We ate there in April for the first time and thought the food was great. No complaints here.

Also you can't beat the interaction between the sisters. They steal the show.

We will definately be going back again.:goodvibes
