Family of 5 wants to go to Discovery Cove and reviews seem great. Only problem is cost - that is a lot of $ for one day. Alternative is to add WDW park hoppers and water park option, have a few nice dinners out etc. Any thoughts that could help with decision?

thx

When were you thinking of going? The annual passport discounts haven't been released yet for 2013. I was trying to book for March 2013 and sent an email to DC, and I get the impression from my return email that they will be releasing some new discounts so advised me to watch emails and passmember site!
If you do not know, if you but a Seaworld, Aquatica or Busch Gardens annual passport for $119 you can get a discount to DC (right now up until Dec 2012) for $69 non dolphin swim and $169 for the swim. That doesn't include any other parks. If you buy it at regular price on DC you get 14 days at SW and Aquatica. So it really is still a good price if you were planning on doing the other parks! That being said, we have been to DC 3 times, once with swims and twice with just resort days, and we find it to be the best day of our vacation! It is super relaxed and a great day!

Thx for great feedback. We are going end of April2013 and we were thinking of SW annual passholder discounts (ie buy one annual pass and then buy 5 DC cove at discounted prices). I thought I just read on boards however that discounted rates have gone up considerably from those you referenced - I may have misunderstood. Just wondering if non-passholders have access to the passmember site you mentioned??

thx for help

We just went Monday, we LOVED our day! We did the Dream 3-day cruise, 2 days at WDW and then Discovery Cove was our last day. It was the best day! It was so relaxing, everything was taken care of for you, and there were no crowds! I know many have raved about cabanas, but it would have been a unused in my family. My kids are 7 and 9 and we only sat down to eat breakfast and lunch. There was so much to do and my kids did not want to get out of the water. If you like sea life then you will not want to miss it. It was our third trip to WDW and I am kicking myself that we never did DC before. We did the Seaworld AP discount and it was well worth every penny.

Hi there, non passmembers can't access the site without having a valid passport. I agree the prices have went up considerably when you look at them through the website, but I sent an email just the other day about the same thing, as that is why I have kept an active passport for the discount to DC. The email I received back from DC lead me to believe they will have new promotions for 2013, which likely will come out in November sometime. So if you can wait til then to book, I think you will find the prices will come down for passmembers and it would be worth it for you to do then.

Here is the last part of the email I copied and pasted for you to see for yourself!

In addition, we offered an exceptional discount for our loyal pass members to visit Discovery Cove this year. That offer will expire on December 31, 2012. The price has not increased, however, you are now booking the visit without the promotion making the cost higher. The offers for 2013 have not been released yet so I would recommend that you sign up for email if you have not already done so as this is the way to receive the most up to date information concerning our offers. You may also continue to visit the pass member website to check for 2013 offers.
