Confiscating Water Bottles

It was probably the same female security guard that tried to search my 14 year old son's pockets going into Epcot on Sunday evening. She said it looked like something was in his pocket, and she needed to see what it was. I told her, 'Yes it was his cell phone', and she said 'Well, I need to see it.' I told her as soon as WDW has a sign posted that people were subject to searches, then I would show it to her. She then started to yell at us really nastily, and I walked away after telling her that everyone coming in the park has stuff in their pockets, so as soon as they start searching everyone, then we will comply. Don't know what was up with that.
They should have thrown you out and voided your tickets. When I was still a police officer I was a supervisor at a concert venue. If someone refused to be searched or empty their pockets I was called. I would give them 1 chance to comply and then they would be escorted off grounds and their ticket revoked without a refund. It is people like you that make things difficult for everyone else! Remember All of Disney World is private property and if you do not comply with rules, whether posted or not, you can be legally removed and considered a tresspasser. I hope people hassle you at your job just like you did to this security officer trying to keep us all safe.

At the water parks only coolers are checked, and the checking is done by the Turnstile Greeters and not security. We are only looking for alcoholic beverages and items in glass containers. But sometime I will tell a Guest we are looking for chocolate cake (or some other similar item) for a party we plan to have that afternoon. And I will only make that comment after I have checked the cooler and am fairly certain there is none.

:lmao:

OP, I always bring in water...in my hand...in my backpack and it has never been taken from me or even looked at....and I'm not the alcohol sneaking looking type either, but my DH is.....JK!

I was stopped at Universal entrance security at Easter, told I could not take in a bottle of water, I drank it on the spot no problem. The following day we had a meal with our friend who is security at MK, usually Main St but sometimes on the entrance so I told her about the water, she said no problem at Disney, they know the tricks of getting alcohol in the parks but water bottles are fine.

It's also possible that security cameras identified something of interest with this group before they reached the check point.

That was about a person doing their job. Something people on these boards complain does not happen enough. It was also about you being rude and ignorant! It was also about the fact that security is trying to protect all of us from something bad happening. BTW, they do not have to post that you are subject to search. All of WDW is private property if they want to search you they can. You can refuse but then they can throw you out which is what they should have done to you! I hope people come to your place of employment and are as rude to you as you were to this person. I bet you would be the first in line to complain/sue if someone slipped a weapon in pass security and injured a member of your family. Great example to set for your 14 year old that a person in a position of authority doesn't have to be respected.

Agreed, but how in the world would they know that if it was, say, Vodka in a Dasani bottle? I never had them look closely at my water bottles to see if they were opened or containing alcohol. Actually, since we clipped them to our belts, I don't recall them even noticing that we had them.

There are ways to tell if it was vodka or water. I wonder if security happened to shake the bottle.

Enough of the lectures. You're the one out of line right now.

The only time they will confiscate your (non-glass) water bottle is if they find out you have booze in it. They might have sniffed it, shaken it, or smelled booze on the person carrying it, if indeed the guard was confiscating the water bottle.

I think it is virtually impossible for another guest, not part of the party in question, to be certain that the bottle was sealed. Sealed and apparently full are not necessarily the same thing.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but my DH had his pockets searched and got into trouble. He always carries a Leatherman tool in his pocket and uses it for everything. I guess it never crossed his mind to remove it before leaving for the park because he thinks of it as a tool, not a weapon. Anyway, at the turnstile the CM noticed the clip on his pocket and asked him to please empty his pockets. When he saw the Leatherman, he pulled my DH aside and explained that knives were not allowed in the park. It was soooo embarrassing, but the CM was very nice. We just had to rent a small locker to keep it in for the day. It never dawned on my DH to refuse to empty his pocket. We appreciated the vigilance of the CM...their job is to help keep us safe!

The same thing happened to my DH. He had been carrying it all week, but one day the clip was visible. He was asked what it was and had to do the same thing as your DH. I usually keep one in my diaper bag because the little scissors can be helpful, but DH made sure I left it at home just in case.

You can make your point without being rude.

That's pretty slick Robo! :lmao: I was having a good chuckle and scrolled back up to see who the poster was - I should have guessed! :rotfl2:

Water is allowed. There has to be more to this story.

Well, why don't we ask the OP. Where is she? And, when did she see this? :confused3

Last thread I saw her on (before this) was about getting beer at the CR pool bar and she's in HS.

Now, maybe I'm totally off about all of this..... :rolleyes1
