I should know this and perhaps I am searching the wrong terminology online... we are contemplating buying a small second contract at BWV or AKV.

at 7 mos can points be combined? ie say I use all my blt points but just need 3 more points for the last night can I use 3 points from the other contract or do I just borrow from next year's BLT points to get the 3 points needed?

If I wanted to use the three would I need to transfer the points over using my one time transfer?

just want to make certain it's clear in my mind before we pursue this further :)

If all contracts are the same UY and under the master contract you can combine at 7 months without a transfer.

Same UY and titled the same way will put them all under the same membership and will allow all points to be mixed at the 7 month mark. You will not be able
To combine prior to that so if you are booking BLT at 11 months and need those three points then you'd still have to borrow.

Even if you have two different memberships (different Use Years and/or titled differently), the points may be combined at 7 months for reservations. Just reserve as many nights as possible from one contract and the remaining nights from the other and MS will link the two reservations into one seamless stay where you will not need to change villas. You could also transfer points from one contract to the other and make the reservation that way - but transferring is not necessary if done as described above. We have been doing this for years now without any problem.

Enjoy! :)

As others have said, if both contracts are under the same member number, you can mix and match points on a booking however you like after the 7-month point.

The way you ensure your add-on contract gets put under the same member number is to purchase the same use year, title it exactly the same as your existing contract (in other words, owner's names appear exactly the same), and make sure DVC is notified to put the new contract under your existing member number.

As Doc says, you can still book "vacations" using both contracts even if they're not under the same member number. You book some nights with one contract, and some nights with the other contract, and link the two reservations. If you want to mix points from several contracts for any single night, though (for example 10 points from contract A and 7 points from contract B for a room that costs 17 points for the night), then you'd either need to have both contracts under the same member number, or do a points transfer from one account to the other.

Many have posted that having multiple member numbers is workable, however, unless you've got a really compelling reason (can't pass up the price being offered on a contract with a different use year, or your current use year isn't working for your vacationing habbits), it really is best to keep things under a single member number. It's so much easier to keep track of.
