Well they hired the company they didn't hire the employees that work for the company. The security is run by an outside company called CSC.I agree that his actions were over the top. I work in public safety so if I have to go through a detector that is fine. I don't have a problem with someone taping me to get my attention but don't grab me. I see a lot of security and police that get on a power trip because of there position or hate there job. People are right that Disney is a happy place and a security person can have a bad attitude and put a damper on that. I do think Disney needs to make an attempt to teach the security to have better people skills. They hired them.

It is still Disney contractors, that directly represents Disney.Well they hired the company they didn't hire the employees that work for the company. The security is run by an outside company called CSC.
My wife was the only one of us that was sent through through the metal detectors when we were around Christmas, having entered the parks on at least 6 entries. How she was picked is beyond me. If the profile is middle-aged, chubby housewives then it makes sense. Chubby, middles-aged, mostly bald guys, however, are apparently safe from scrutiny for now as I was never selected.
The problem with this thread is there just aren't enough people jumping in to criticize someone's actions instead of actually discussing how security is working and whether it is beneficial...
When you have a member of society assault somebody and brag about it, it's actually a good thing to have others criticize this en masse. Social conditioning helps us function as a whole, can't just go around assaulting people willy-nilly because you don't like a policy that has been enacted.
No that's pretty much never a good thing. I find social media pile-ons repulsive.
I understand. In my two metal detector experiences this trip they were not mean or rude they were just as I expected them to be. I cannot speak for others of course tho. That is no excuse, they are still representing WDW and should be held to the same standard as any WDW security personnel.
My company uses a lot of contract workers, if we have an issue our customer does not care if it was a direct employee or contracted employee as far as their concerned it is my companies issue.
They won't do a pat down they will just take you to the side with a wand. Are these the same metal detectors they use at airports? If so I can't go through them as I have a defibrillator. Are they able to do a pat down?
I don't like strangers touching me either. Or my kids for that matter. But Rusty's reaction was over the top.
Offend is the wrong word.... It would not offend me, but if I don't know you, please keep your hands to yourself!

Yes, I can understand that but a firm, "please keep your hands off me" would of been a lot more appropriate then hitting someone in the ribs with a hard object.
Yes, I agree. That's why I said his reaction was over the top. Did I ever once post that the security guard deserved to get hit with a cane? No. I actually said the exact opposite.
