That could have been the issue, or the OP just didn't notice the links.

Which is a good reason to prevent people in other countries from seeing the details and thinking they'll be able to access the reservations before they get to the U.S. They'd be confused and frustrated when they couldn't find the option on the Disney app.

It would be good if Disney put a link to more information for people in that situation, so they know they'll be able to make reservations as soon as they're in the country.

I'm frustrated now. Reservations "once you're in the country" is a terrible substitute. After all the 7 day/3 day people have booked, all the most desirable rides will either be sold out or only have times left so late in the day that you won't be able to book anything else using that slot later. That's a huge downgrade from Genie+ for statistically higher-spending guests.

And doing standby-only is a terrible substitute. With the cost of flights/hotels/park tickets, the cost per attraction is way too high for standby only, imo. With the priority they give to the LL over standby, the amount of time we'd spend in line on a standby only vacation we'd rather just go somewhere else.

The main question will be how many Passes will be created per ride. During Fastpass + era, with re-rides, those knowing the system could hit everything / all tier 1's easily during a day. Genie+, little harder to do but could do everything still too (Slinky hardest one to get?).

If this goes back to Fastpass + allotments, then everyone should have a chance to hit all that they want with a little planning in their times selected per ride. Those park hoping would have high chances to snag say Slinky after first use elsewhere.

I’m amused by all those saying that they are glad to not have to get up at 7am every morning. As a rope dropper, I’m going to be up anyway. Not to mention, VQs and such will still have to be booked at 7am, so there’s that as well. I know not everyone rope drops, but a lot of people clearly go for the VQs.

Rope Dropping is going to be pretty much required if you're using this multipass effectively. Very disappointing. Maybe once people realize the loss of value, the half day guests will stop buying it and leave more evening LL availability.

A lot is going to depends on how much it costs. At a certain price point, only once-in-a-lifetime visitors and people with loads of money will purchase LLs. The rest of us will RD and stay late.

I think the current Genie + isn't priced high enough(not that I want to pay more). I know not a popular opinion but when you pay premium for something you expect a premium experience.

Universal is laughable expensive for there express pass however "most" rides are a 5-10 minute waits and you can get on rides multiple times very easy.

It is weird to say it, but it's kinda true. One thing about the pre-booking vs. FP+ is that not everyone is going to pay for this, so it may reduce the pool somewhat so it might work out better.

Universal does charge a lot to enter and they charge a lot to skip the line

I am curious whether we’ll be able to modify our 3 selections and add people? My sister’s on-property stay starts 2 days before my family’s stay. Once my booking window opens up, will she be able to modify her selections and add us? Or will be forced to book all new selections so we can ride together?

I think there's a difference between a local amusement park and WDW. People go to the local park for a day, not for a week. We used to go to Coney Island, which is extremely expensive, especially for what it is. But it's a one-day outing, not a vacation.

Also, I don't think I've waited 30 minutes in any LL queue since G+ started, or when there was FP+.

We're going to Universal in December, first time, and the Express Pass seems wonderful compared to whatever system they've got at WDW. But it's included at the hotel where we're staying--RPR--and the daily rates there are half what the cheapest Deluxe at WDW charges. So I don't think that's comparable either.

I believe WDW will update the tiers when it sees how everything is going. Space, FEA, Remy, EE, MMRR, etc were all added back into Genie+ shortly after the program launched.

Tiers always fluctuated over the years with FP+. Remember when The Character Spot in Epcot was Tier 1? Or how about when SDD, TSM, and AS2 were all considered Tier 1 in DHS? If capacity is gobbled up too fast I imagine characters will be added back in.

I really think Disney made this change because it lost a ton of guest traffic data. FP+ showed where people would be on what day at what time. Park reservations tied all guests to a park. Sure the reservation system is gone for day tickets, but if you pre-purchase Genie+ you're locking yourself into a park again and telling Disney exactly where you will be and when.
