Confirmation No Marvel Characters @ WDW

At the recent Walt Disney Company shareholders meeting, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that characters from the Marvel Universe will be introduced at Disney Parks around the world. Universal Orlando currently holds exclusive rights to the Marvel characters in Florida, so Walt Disney World may be the only spot without a Marvel presence.

I've only been to one other disney park (DL) but can't imagine where they'll 'stick them' there maybe California Adventure. Always thought that the Power Rangers didn't really fit where they did photo ops @ MGM either.

My recollection is that UO only has rights to *specific* characters, not the entire portfolio. However, that generally includes all of the "good ones".

Yup...most of the A-Listers are already taken so Disney would have to use the lesser know characters in WDW.

I read somewhere that Universal has the rights to use the Avengers in their parks( even though they don't use them all right now) Thor and Ironman are both avengers

That's good news! I'm just a little uneasy over what Disney plans to do with the Marvel guys.

Not a M&G, but there is the Avengers monorail wrap apparently debuting soon.

I remember reading some of the Marvel message boards when this sale was first announced and those people were saying the same thing. They are very concerned Disney will change the characters to make them less threatening to small children. And I can definitely see Disney doing that along with adding mouse ears to everything.
