I read somewhere that if you are in a 16th floor room at BLT, that you have access to the Top of World lounge there. Is this true? Even if you aren't a DVC member/owner?

I was on the 16th floor in March. You have to scan your band it activate the button on the elevator. Yes, you'd have access to the lounge if you're on that floor.

I've still never seen any official rule for access specific to those who are staying at BLT. It would seem to make sense to me that, as a feature of BLT, everyone staying there should have access. The DVC restriction should only apply to those staying elsewhere. What was the rule before they opened it to all members on property? Was it really only open to DVC members staying at BLT? Or only to BLT owners? I've been frustrated by the lack of clarity. The published rule lists "blackout dates," but never clarifies who still has access.

If they are DVC members, they can access to the TOTWL. The space has been exclusive to DVC members since it opened.

Originally, the TOTWL was only open to members that were using their membership to stay at BLT. It has never been a BLT owner only perk.

Wow. That's quite the loophole. So, if you can get yourself on the 16th floor, you're in - DVC ownership or not. Crazy.

Thanks.

I believe only DVC members can be placed on the 16th floor. That may have changed, as Disney does what ever makes more money for them.

There are not many rooms on the 16th floor. There are 2 dedicated 2-bedroom villas and 2 lock-off 2-bedroom villas on the 16th. All of the BLT GV are 2 story and 8 of them occupy the 15th & 16th floors (the other 6 are on the 14th & 15th floors).

I doubt assignors are looking at membership status, but, at the same time, there are a max of 6 rooms.

I'll be getting a 2 BR LV next year. Did you put in any specific request for the 16th floor or just have that one assigned?

I might have checked the "high floor" box during online checkin. Otherwise, no specific requests. We arrived early in the day and checked in at the desk to see if our room was ready. The lady helping me said she could try to find me an available room, but the one I had been assigned was "really great," so we left our bags with bell services and walked to the park.

On a past LV studio stay at BLT, I requested the 16th floor - requested it via MS. When we checked in, the CM said that they had one assigned to us, but it wouldn't be ready until later in the day and offered one on a lower floor that was ready now. I said we'd be happy to wait. :)

It was great to walk just a few steps down the hall to the TOTWL. Actually, we usually just watched fireworks from the deck and didn't even go into the lounge. So nice to walk right by the crowd at the elevator to get back to the room. :)

We never had to use our MB to get onto the deck or into the lounge if we were coming from our room. Of course, we did have to use our MB in the elevator to get to the 16th floor, but that wasn't ever a problem, since that is where our room was located.

If 16th floor is what you want, call or email MS (ask the owner to do it if you are renting) and ask MS to add it to your reservation and don't ask for anything else. (If you do online check-in, just skip the section on requests. Don't check or type anything on that page). You might get lucky!

Awesome. Can't hurt to try right? We've been on the 11th floor a couple of times and like that well enough. This will my brother's first trip to WDW and will be bringing his family to stay with us. Might as well ruin them for any other rooms. Lol! We are the owners so should have pretty good control over the request, so we'll see how it goes.

IMO TOTWL isn't that big of deal to have me try for the 16th floor if not an owner.

:earsboy: Bill

We were lucky enough to get 16th floor in February 2016, stayed in a 2 bedroom lockoff, brought friends with us. It was our first stay at BLT...may never want to stay there again after the awesomeness of being able to walk over to TOTWL whenever we wanted, have snacks in the 'private room', etc.

Lol, of course they didn't tell us 'how' to access the 16th floor so we went up and down and up and down until we figured out the elevator's magic band thing on our own!

We had emailed member services with the 'high floor' request.

What is the e:mail address for room requests?
Log on to the Member's website. Roll your mouse over the "Help & Contact" tab and you will see a link for email. (Or you can click on Help & Contact and when the page loads, click on the email icon at the top right of your screen).
