Confessions of the Resort Changers

YOU GO GIRL!! If you wanna break dance just bust a move. And I'll throw in a couple of these for ya.:dancer: :dancer:

:rockband: :dancer: party: Congratulations!

My younger sister is mad a me because I keep mentioning Disney when her wedding is the beginning of August. She asked me the other day where the ticker for her wedding was :confused3. I'll really need a vacation after the wedding is over is what I keep saying to her.

This just in....my DH asked about Poly this morning???!!!! He wanted to know the difference in the room size. Does this mean another search for us? My DS(12) would love the beach and sports. Uh Oh! *Music from Psycho plays in the distance* :scared1: .

I think you will be okay with the Alfredo's, as you said, you will have a piece of history. Coral Reef will be there for the next trip.

I ate at CR last year, I thought it was nice, but I wasn't that thrilled with the choices on the menu. The fish were cool, but it was very crowded.

stepdisney, that's too funny about your sister. And what's this about Poly? :woohoo: You MUST book it if he agrees. DH and I had gotten the 40% code when we first booked and then didn't want to spend the extra and cancelled, now our vacation is within $500 bucks from where we started. I could just KICK myself for losing that.:sad2:

I'm so excited for you, good luck.

Also I've started a pre trip report so that I can keep myself occupied and not change anything. So feel free to drop by!

Hi all!!!

Just posted at your pre trippie ktink!!!

Stepdisney....PINE not Palm trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!!!

Talk to you guys later!!!

When is Alfredos closing??? We have CR booked for our first night.....need some info..Just thought all the fishies would keep hte baby entertained. What do oyu think ?

nonsmom, I was thinking about Alfredo's and this being a historic event. You are so right, Coral Reef will be there the next time. We are seriously looking now at the Poly. My DH keeps saying that it's too late to change the days because we locked in to our airfare. We are locked in to the dates and 10 days at Poly would be a large jump in price.

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial day. :thumbsup2

You can always say you were at Alfredo's the last night it was opened.

If you booked on SW, you can change your tickets. You just get a credit, and they put it into an account for 1 year, then you just rebook for the day you want and use the credit. Worked for me last year when the rates went down. :rotfl:

For me, personally, I am not sure if it is worth going to poly for the $$ difference. The two hotels are really close to each other, and the $$ difference per night is huge. I have taken the monorail from CR to MK and I think that the boat ride from WL is much nicer. Much more peaceful. If you get on the boat just as the fireworks are about to start, you can look back and see them from the middle of the lake. Very pretty. Can't do that from the monorail, it moves too fast IMO.

I hope this helps.

Nonsmom, thanks for the info, we are booked on SW. If the flight costs less, do they let you keep what's left over for a year or do you have to use the entire credit and loose the rest?

I think my DH likes the idea of a larger room at the Poly. I'm not too sure on the theming. We are planning a trip to Hawaii and I don't want a pre-polynesian experience.

Disneybride,
While I generally choose palm trees over pines, we're staying put (for right now) I'm still looking at pictures of AKL and saying that this resort has the best theming. I'm having a difficult time letting go of my desire to stay there. I did have a dream last night (we had a hugh thunderstorm here last night) anyway, I had a dream that we were at AKL right in the middle of very loud construction and they would NOT move us :sad2: . You'd think this would help me be more content with WL. I'm very afraid that I'll find WL boring. I need more convincing. :guilty:

Yes, you do keep the extra $$ for 1 year. Just double check with SW. I did it for last September.

stepdisney, I just read your post about AKL. I would try and get that changed if you're interested. prejean princess has a thread going that's talking about there being no availability at AKL. There has been some talk that perhaps they are only booking a portion of the hotel to insure guests a quality stay away from the construction. This is strictly guess work on everyone's part. But then if you are able to change chances are you could loose your room at WL. Good luck but go w/ what you think will be best. That's what I ended up doing. I didn't want to spend my vacation wishing I was somewhere else. Good luck & keep us posted.

Hey Everyone, Just wanted to post that I checked the WDW online reservation site and AKL is now showing availibity for all room catagories during our stay (Sept. 8-13). Don't know what happened to the site for the last 2 days! :confused3

I thought I would choose palm over pine trees anyday...I even said i'd never say at WL cause of the fact of my "WL" theme I have in our park trailer in WI....
However, I was swayed due to the close proximity to MK, the beach, all my ADR's I wanted would be easy to get to, the price and it looks beautiful and there are soo many fans of it!
I have been to AKL visiting (picked up DD after wedding, SIL stayed there) the pool was great, as the poolside bar:) it did seem "hotter"...the climate ...as opposed to the normal June temps..? I do remember feeling like I hiked to get to their room...the lobby seemed dark..but beautiful! Then again I came from GF, which is like night and day.
My older DD wants to stay AKL and the villas look amazing!!!
For now though...the boat to MK and the beach area and everything else has me sold!! Besides, DH wont allow me to change again!! lol..and I will have him staying at a DVC Resort......lol...my hidden agenda!!!!!
Like ktink said....the last thing anyone wants to do is to stay at one resort and be secretly "pineing" (sp?) for another resort!! lol

Thanks Ktink and Disneybride. It seems the lack of rooms at AKL was due to a systems glitch. No matter how much I sway, I keep coming up with WL. I just watched a show on the travel network about Yellowstone Park and there is a place called Yellowstone Lodge that I KNOW WL must have been themed after. It is almost and exact copy including the fireplace and the chairs surrounding it, the furnishings and the peaks on the hotel. It seemed very warm and cozy but dark. Not the dark that is AKL with the dark wood and furnishings but dim lighting. They even said that the lighting was dim to give it atmosphere. I did like it (I like warm atmosphere and lighting). I think that by the time we arrive, I will have made peace with my decision :hippie: . I am sure that if Disney had a way to allow split stays without forcing you to buy tickets as if it were two different trips, we would definately stay at both WL and AKL.
PINEING!!:rotfl2: . I hope I don't seem disappointed, I am very happy to go and, like you said, a lot of people love WL. I have never heard anyone say anything bad about the place. (If you have, don't tell me :) ).

Stepdisney, You will love WL. :goodvibes We have not stayed at AKL yet so I can't compare it....after September I can :cool1:. The boat to MK is like a theme park ride...well maybe just a little like one, but more fun than a bus ride. :thumbsup2

Carol/houston thanks for the reassurance, especially comparing the boat ride to a theme park ride :thumbsup2 . My son's were upset on our last trip because we hired a car instead of taking the "Mickey Bus" I must say, they are easily pleased and very gracious children. I also must say, the only thing they complained about on our last trip was the long line at the end of the night at the POP bus and the long walk (especially when it was raining) from the main building to our room. WL should cure them of both of those complaints.

PINEING!!:rotfl2: .

I ended up doing 2 reservations, buying a 1-day base ticket for our WL package, but since we are getting free dining for that portion of our vacation, it wasn't so bad. We did the AKL package with an 8 day ticket plus dining (not free) :sad1: I don't like that policy of having to book seperate packages though, it seems like a waste of money since we don't need the 1 day ticket.

WDW Resort Behind the Scenes is on Travel Channel right now!

stepdisney, It sounds like you've made the right decision on WL. One of the main reasons I went along w/ the family was because of the boat ride and the newer rooms. We will more than likely stay there on our next stay as I'm hoping DH will get bitten by the Deluxe bug.;) I'd love to try BWI out too!
