Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

Thanks Ann, it was. :goodvibes

He got the job?!?!?!? YAY!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a perfect Mother's Day! :lovestruc

Yes!!! He found out Friday and it is PERFECT for him. He finally got to talk to the guy and he is really great. He even told him that when/if he's ready he'd help him with starting rental properties. The company doesn't do retirement funding but he helps all of his employess with rental property and calls it their retirement plan. :thumbsup2

A few weeks ago when he wasn't working and had no real prospects I asked him what he really wanted. He said he wanted to know that he had a place to get up and go to every single day (rain or shine), that he could work hard but not kill himself, and with people who trust him and won't be looking over his shoulder all the time. That is EXACTLY what this job is. I'm so happy for him I could just burst. :cloud9: He seemed a little down after he talked to his old boss- they are friends and I know he would have kept working with him forever under different circumstances (read- a better economy) but those feelings were soon replaced by his excitement for the new job.

And he told them that we already have plane tickets to go to WDW in September and he said no problem! The paid vacation doesn't kick in until he's been there for a year (1 week the first year, 2 weeks after that) but at least he gets the time off! :cheer2:

I am so happy you had such a wonderful Mother's Day and that is absolutely fabulous that Robbie found a job that fits him so perfectly!!!!!

Sounds like a great Mother's Day! Hurray for a day of appreciation!

Oh, and we live in the same house with my mother, and we rarely eat together. Apparently, it's very common... :rolleyes1

It was a great day! I guess the whole hassle of preparing a big meal and eating together just isn't necessary when we see so much of them. It's nice once in a while though. :)

Thank you! :cutie:

Good thing you didn't want to ride IASW! Now you have an excuse, it's going to be down for rehab from 8/1-10/22!

Glad you had a nice mother's day!! So glad Robbie got a new job. What a great Mother's Day gift! :goodvibes When does he start?

Thank you! The new job officially starts next Monday because had to give the old job 2 weeks notice. But since they don't have any work he's started unofficially.

and another tidbit of info that might be of interest to you...A DISer, whose daughter is a CM at Le Cellier, said that they announced to the CM's this week that as soon as September LC will become a 2TS credit meal, less seating, and a revamp of the menu! Of course since you are OOP, it won't matter, but maybe it will be even more coveted and you might get an even more amazing meal?? The info is in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2450005&page=7

I'm just a plethora of information.

All right for the job!!!! But as for IASW, I am bummed, I do like it and my girls do too. Oh well, i'm glad we rode it last year! Manny's not too crazy about though, so he'll be glad!

somehow I missed all the details on the new job...sounds amazing! Always good to have a great boss and a job you like! DH has the best boss, and we feel very lucky!

I hear they had to bring in some replacement kids and staple their little feetsies down...

Sorry for the dark humor but ever since I heard a dad telling his kid that if he didn't behave he'd leave him in IASW we've joked about it.

And hurray for Robbie! I think I told you that in person but I wanted to cover my bases. I'm happy he has work and that it's work he likes. And, of course, I'm thrilled your trip plans are still a GO.

It's okay, I like dark humor. :rotfl: And it reminds me of a Hitchcock story where he actually told a child actor that if he didn't stay on his mark that he'd nail his feet to the floor and shoot around the blood pooling on the floor! :scared1:

Great news on the new job!!!! :thumbsup2

Amanda

Thank you!!:goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes I am sorry for the folks who enjoy IASW- I know its an iconic ride so missing out on it would be a letdown for some. But it's Disney so you won't be down for long! :thumbsup2

Well, I had it buried in my long and rambling Mother's Day post so it was easy to miss. He's pretty thrilled. There are many things that make this the perfect job for him and I'm just so happy for him! :cloud9:

Thanks! I'm pretty sure you did tell me in person but covering bases is okay too. :upsidedow

Um, Hope, since we're not going to be at Disney with you for the Halloween Party, will you bring me back a piece of candy? Please. Actually, I saved a piece from each of the MNSSHPs we've attended but a mouse got to them... Okay, never mind. ;)

I was all set to bring you back a piece of candy MA until you associated Mickey with a nasty candy stealing mouse.

France/Aristocats

Another great Disney day today! :goodvibes

We've been trying to do this one for a while. Savannah got sick the first time we tried (I think it was Savannah) so we postponed it. The following week we had to do Mexico/ Three Caballeros for Cinco de Mayo and then last week Karen got sick! We perservered though and this week we finally got to do France.

I wanted to turn the table into a little French bistro so I started by layering blue and yellow tablecloths (most of my 'tablecloths' are actually sheets... shhh) and then adding a few touches that I had around the house. I still had my flowers left from Mother's Day so I added the vase to the table along with some wine and wine glasses (the wine was for Karen and I, the girls had grape juice but that bottle wasn't nearly as pretty). Then I pulled my guide book from the Louvre off of my bookshelf and took some pictures off the wall. The print is cheap little thing I got for 5 euro on the street but I love it, its in my kitchen and when I look at I reminisce about my very short (about 7 hours) trip to Paris and dream about going back. (In case you can't tell the think hanging on that print is Kya's beret.) The black and white framed photo is a picture I took of the Eiffel Tower. Some of my old point and shoot photos aren't as great as the pictures I get now but I still have some framed on my wall from favorite vacations, this is one of those.

I put out fruit and cheese and made crescent rolls...

As usual the girls didn't want their picture taken...

But I managed one quick shot of Kya in her beret...

Lots and lots of Disney discussion went on... Karen filling me in on the plans for her November trip and talking me into hoppers. :stir: I actually take partial responsibility because I mentioned I was thinking of tweaking my plans to include and evening EMH at DHS since its the only park we'll only be visiting once and I wanted more time there. Before I knew it we were looking up touring tips and talking about hopping but that's another post. :rolleyes1

The girls had fun too but (of course) didn't watch the movie!

Well, I think I've already dropped the hopper idea. :rolleyes1

I worked out an alternative schedule based on using hoppers and the only things I gained were:

1) 2 extra hours at DHS that I'm not sure I want/need. My evening consists only of things that I won't be heartbroken to miss. We'll do Great Movie Ride and Magic of Disney Animation first that evening and then if we have time for VotLM and One Man's Dream that's great, if not I won't be horribly disappointed.

2) We'd get a green morning at MK instead of a yellow. We'd still have a yellow evening because we want to see Spectro/Wishes so there's no avoiding that. The yellow morning doesn't worry me horribly because we have the GAD passes. Yes, green would be better but yellow is still 'doable'.

I considered changing my 2nd AK day as well so it would be green but I only have four things on my touring plans for that day and I want to be in MK at 4 so I can tour before the party. The only thing I could have moved to that morning and still had all green days would have been a very busy DHS morning. It didn't seem like a good idea on party day so I left AK on a yellow day even with the hopper option. :confused3

So, I had to ask myself- are a few green hours at MK and 2 hours at DHS worth the price of hoppers. Well, I wasn't sure because I wasn't sure how much hoppers for 6 days for 4 adults (our kids are both Disney adults) would be...

$221!!!! :scared1:

Nope, I don't think its worth it. I'm sticking with my original plan. If I didn't already have such great plans I would probably consider spending the $$ but with the exception of MK and an unchanging AK day all of my park days are already green and I like my touring plans. I think I'll save the $221 and maybe do another TS oop instead.

I've weighed the hopper option as well, but, it really didn't do enough for me either. I think if you're only going to be in Disney for a short period of time it's definitely worth it. But if you've got plenty of park days then I don't think it's "necessary". Obviously to each is own though! Some people LOVE to hop.

I love your France night. Very "Francy" :lmao:
