Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

Hi! I came over to your PTR from Charlefours (Stephanie)'s PTR!

I immediately was drawn to your report because of the name "Confessions of an obsessive planner"...because I too am an obsessive planner!!! :rotfl2:

I also thought it was neat because not only am I an obsessive planner, but my name is also Hope!!! So I guess we have alot in common already, of course, including that we both love Disney!!! :)

I'm going to try to catch up on your report either tonight or tomorrow! I'm sure that I read some of it before, but I subscribed this time so I won't lose it! I think what happened was this one evening I had about 50 Internet Explorer windows open with PTR's & my computer just shut down & I lost everything! Too much DISing for my computer to handle apparently! LOL

Can't wait to read more of your report!

One more thing...please thank Karen for me!!!

I have been trying & trying for aloooooong time to figure out how to post the title of my PTR in my signature instead of the http:///blah blah blah blah with all the numbers & letters. (I hope that makes sense!)

I saw Karen's post on the first page of your PTR & followed her directions in my signature...and it worked! So please tell her "thank you very much" from me! :)

:cool1::cool1: Welcome to the madhouse Hope!! :cool1:

I think I may have had those times where there was just too much DISing going on... :rolleyes1

And we have another thing in common- at least I think we do based on your username. I  photography! What kind of photography are you interested in? What kind of camera do you have? :yay:

I'm sure Karen will read your message but I'll be sure to pass it along. She's a pusher but at least she's a HELPFUL pusher. :lmao:

Heehee...what kind of camera do you have?!?!? :p It's like where I grew up in St. Louis and you would meet someone, the first thing EVERYONE asks is "Where did you go to to highschool" So...what kind of camera DO you have Hope???

I'm so glad my directions helped you (this isn't something I hear very often, LOL) and welcome to the obsession! :lmao:

I can't believe the ticket confusion! I'm so glad you worked it out. That would have stressed me out!!!

Amanda

Love the pictures from your Disney day, the drinks with the green sugar are very creative!!!

And OMG, you booked the wrong MNSSHP day. I would have had a heart attack! Good thing you noticed this now and not in august!

I am pretty laid back about most things but this did stress me a little! Thankfully I was able to correct it pretty quickly!

Thanks! We have fun planning the days. :)

I still can't believe I booked the wrong day!! To top it off I'd forgotten my cell phone at home but Karen was nice enough to let me use hers so I could straighten it out and relax. :lovestruc

So, I just put up a post on my PTR to see where everyone will be on which days while we're in Disney so we can try to set up a dis meet!!!!!!

Yes, Hope, we definitely have another thing in common!!! I loooove photography! I actually am starting a photography course in the Fall this year & I am super excited about it!

And Karen, thank you again. Now I just have to figure out how to make a table of contents! Could you PM me the instructions for that? :rolleyes1

Right now I have a Canon Powershot S3 IS and I absolutely love it! I used to have a DSLR (Fujifilm S2 Pro with Nikon lenses) but unfortunately had to sell it because I needed the money after getting laid off from my job when my boss' business went under. After I got the Canon, I was happy that I sold my DSLR because I actually like the Canon better. It has both the manual & auto features and I can add lens or filters to it (which you really can't do with most regular digital cameras). I think the Canon is a nice compromise between a digital camera & a DSLR. :)

I took a TON of pictures yesterday at the zoo & am planning to post them on my PTR later today so please feel free to stop by & check them out! I was amazed at the amount of detail I was able to get from so far away!

I am mostly interested in portraiture & outdoor photography. I also enjoy photographing animals. I think I enjoy the challenge because they are constantly moving & don't really pose for the photos, so you always end up with great action shots!

I am a true believer that a picture is worth a thousand words!!!

You should see my house. I have an entire "craft room" full of scrapbook supplies, photography books, and all of my photography supplies. (Second to scrapbooking & photography, I love to read!) I suppose I should call it my "photography room" instead of my "craft room." :rotfl:

Now we have something else we can share besides Disney tips...photography tips! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I have so enjoyed reading this thread! I am taking our family for our first disney trip july 4th -9th! Staying at CBR! I have been trying to plan out my days and to be honest I don't even know where to begin. I have my ADR all set so I think I will plan around those. I am taking my 2 youngest boys, ages 18 & 17! My oldest is 24, just back from Iraq and says he is not interested in this vacation and he will be in school. I need to plan things for young men:)

I saw something on this thread about a park being "green", I took that as light attendence? How do I find out which parks will be best to visit on my days?

My DH is letting me plan everything, normally he does all of this but for some reason, I won't let go of this, but last night I gave him the laptop and told him to start reading, after about 10 min he handed it back and said he did not understand a word that was being said!! (All the abbrievations had him stumped)!!

I am so excited for this trip! I have a stressful job, I am getting ready to send my middle child to college, just endured the stress of having my son serve for a long deployment. I am just READY for this! Plus June 5th I am having a huge graduation party and I need to finish that planning also!

Needless to say, I am ready for the magic to begin! Please keep posting, I love reading all of it:)
:cheer2:

And I want one of those cute countdowns, I found one but can't figure out how to get it on this site!!

I have a Canon Rebel XT and I LOVE it! I mostly enjoy candids and nature but really will take a picture of anything. :rotfl: My kids started running from for a while because they were so sick of me trying to take their picture but now they realize it's easier not to fight it. :rolleyes1

WELCOME!!:cool1:

How fun to be going with your boys. :lovestruc It's going to be fun! From the sounds of things you NEED a fun vacation so I'm so happy that you are getting to go to Disney.

As for planning I would really recommend getting a good book like Passporters. I am lucky enough to have a friend who is WELL versed in Disney planning so she really guided me along the way. For every itinerary, touring plan, etc. you see posted on this thread there was MUCH discussion going on behind the scenes between Karen and I. The first thing she did was lend me her coppy of Passporters and it was a great introduction!

Ooooooh!! This trip is getting more real every day! :goodvibes

We got our MNSSHP tickets from FedEx today!!:banana::banana::banana:

This is our first 'official' correspondance other than email. Of course we got the dvd but anyone can get that even if they're not really going. And of course we've gotten email confirmations but there's just something about having something to hold in your hand that just feels so much more real than an email. :cloud9:

I double checked and they are for the correct days so we are all set! :cool1:

Happy Mother's Day Hope! I hope you had a great day celebrating with your family. :goodvibes

:yay: for MNSSHP tickets in your hands!! I am all excited about getting all the Mickey Mail!! It is the little things that make us happy. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for all of the Mother's Day wishes! I had a really great day. :goodvibes

Kya is a lot like me when it comes to gift giving, she loves to give meaningful things tailored to the person she's giving it to and she'd been bugging her dad to take her to the store for over a week. Saturday he finally took her and as soon as she woke up Sunday morning she popped out of bed and gave me a hug and ran to get the present. She had found a book charm (I love to read) which is a book mark that is more like jewelry. It's a pewter chain with some beads and a little charm on the end that says "Hope". Leave it to that girl to find just the perfect thing on her tiny budget.

Jace is less into gifts but he's big on words and hugs so I got plenty of those and was told several times that I'm "the best mom ever." :lovestruc

Robbie really surprised me since he usally isn't great in the gift giving department. I think he was feeling especially good since Friday he found out that he got a new job he'd really been hoping for. Whatever it was he actually thought of a gift all on his own which just NEVER happens.

The first thing he did was fix lunch for me and my family so mom and I didn't have to cook. My parents and my brother came over and he grilled steaks, vegetables, cabbage, and onions for us and even made a salad and cut up a pineapple. It was delicious and we had a really great visit with the family. I don't know if I've mentioned before that we live next door to my parents but oddly enough we rarely get together for meals. I have a friend who also lives close to her parents and we think the proximity makes it easy to take for granted that we can do that anytime. :confused3 Anyway, we had a nice lunch and nice visit. My mom collects cookie jars and the kids and I painted one at our local paint-your-own-ceramics store. They're redecorating the kitchen and we used the new colors she picked out and the kids put their handprints on it. She LOVED it. :thumbsup2 And my mom is just generous and wonderful so she always gets me something too. She says that being a grandma is the best thing that has ever happened to her and she wants to thank me for that on Mother's Day. Isn't that the nicest thing? I love my mom. :lovestruc She knows I'm saving up to buy a new camera lens so she gave me money to put toward that. I have it tucked away in my lens fund that I had to start over with since we had to get the camera fixed.

The meal wasn't the only thing Robbie gave me. He also got me a hose wheel and shower wand attachment for the hose. I've been really trying to garden this year and he wanted to make it easier for me. I got to try these out on Sunday but it rained yesterday so no need. But it was great when I did use it! Watering both the tomatoes and the flower beds was super easy and now it won't seem like such a chore to get out and do every day. He also got me a big bag of wildflower seeds. I have a huge flower bed in the front yard and when we first moved in I planted some things that I love by the front door but haven't really filled in the rest. He knows I like low maintenence with maximum impact so these seeds were perfect. After my family left we went out to the flower beds and pulled up the old weed guard and he tilled up all the empty places so I could spread the seed and then he and I raked it together. I just can't wait for it to start growing. The best part is that the seeds are both perinneal and annual so every year I'll have a reminder of this great Mother's Day. :goodvibes

Of course yesterday was back to dishes and laundry but it was nice to have a day of appreciation. :cutie:
