Just finished page 2 and can't wait to read more!!!!! We aren't staying on property (which I'm a little bummed about b/c that also means no partaking of the dining plan) but we are still planning to do some meals on site. Off to try for some ADR's now!

I wish I had read your update earlier, so DH wouldn't have surprised me with that disney visa info this morning! At least you have a PIN. We don't, but I think we'd be able to get an AP discount even though we don't have the AP's yet. Not giving up until after May 3rd. May 4th, I will assume it's not coming and change all my plans accordingly though.

Try going to the disney website and clearing all of your saved vacation offers. Then create an itinerary that states you'll be staying offsite. I did this on my account and the account I created for dh and the next day got a pin code on his account. It's not free dining but it's something! Good luck.

Wow- the tension must be rising around FD! I just unsubscribed from the FD thread I've been following because people are getting nasty over there! The post that put me over the edge was the one that implied Disney needed to stop with the free promos because they aren't attracting the right kind of people because people are just looking for a handout if they want FD.

There were several people who tried to explain the concept of setting and staying within a vacation budget and that FD simply makes Disney affordable for those who might otherwise choose to go elsewhere. It didn't matter and people couldn't wrap their brain around the idea that having a budget doesn't make you a freeloader. Too many people agreed with the above sentiment and I just had to stop reading. The classist theme going on was to irksome and I just don't need internet drama in my life. I guess I'll just have to find out about FD somewhere else.

OH, Hope, I was getting that same impression, too! Believe me, I'm on a tight budget, but that doesn't make me and my family "undesireables" just because I can't afford 4 trips to Disney per year and stay at the Deluxes! Heck, this is MY FIRST TRIP ON PROPERTY!! Like you and the majority of people out there, Free Dining would just make things not so tight! I, too, deserve a vacation and I deserve to go to my favorite place on Earth!!!

I've been watching that thread all naptime this afternoon...it's like a train wreck, I can't look away! I think I'll have to unsubscribe too if it continues this way though. I mean, really, a disney vacation is expensive, and no one is getting a "hand out" no matter what the promo is. We're all still shelling out serious money to get there. And no big deal if it encourages us to go longer or spend more money or whatever if they feed us while we're there. We're in the "going no matter what" crowd, but if I have to spend money on food I'll be watching my whole budget while I'm there, and I'll spend less money overall. Not because I necessarily have to, but because I feel really ripped off spending $8 on a hot dog. And that's not what disney wants, now, is it?

Yay! I have to call my brother and let him know so that he can call on Monday morning. We booked bounceback so we're set but he had to pay for his dining plan since he was not able to book bounceback.
