Confession time...

McDonalds Tea!!! I find myself taking a trip to McDonalds just to get a tea for $1!!! Sad I know, but I do. I get 3 or 4 a week....lets see at 4 a week, thats $208 a year!!! OMG I gotta stop that habbit!!!

Me too. I also ask for a cup of ice water. The tea is waaayyy too sweet most times, so I sip some and then add water to cut the sugar some. It a big, big, big cup of tea. It lasts a long time.

This is mine! I love their unsweetened tea with lemon! I figure its only a dollar but those dollars add up! :scared1:

I forgot to mention Yankee Candles. I have so many I have no where to store all of them.

Shoes!!!! Shopping on line has made it even easier to feed my sickness.

Second would be books & cosmetics!!!! UGH! I should be locked out of the Sephora & Barnes & Noble websites.

I don't cook from scratch and my kids eat 2 or 3 different meals from each other a night, we also don't do leftovers.

Goodwill....it's less than 1/2 mile from work. And even though $20-$30 a month isn't alot it adds up...especially when the kids don't really need any clothes.

Dh's weakness is eating out. DH works out of town and eats out alot, even though he has leftovers from home and sandwich stuff. I also get caught up on the eating out stuff the 3 days a week I have classes.

90% of the time I bring a lunch but every now and then I cave and buy a Chick Fil A sandwich...bad for the pocket AND my diet. :scared:

And Coke Classic. I love Coke Classic. I drink water, one glass of tea or Coke a night but I do sneak Cokes occasionally. But I keep the caps for My COke Rewards so I can justify it a little. ;)

And Christmas. It's usually not alot of $$ because I buy clearance, Goodwill, sales etc but DD's end up with alot of stuff. More than they need but since it was on clearance, sale etc...it's OK!! Usually I have a whole storage bin of stuff but becasue of my reduced work hours and our money situation, I have zero. Which is actually a good thing!!

Not a huge expense, but I like to buy nail polish. I don't usually spend more than $1 a bottle, but I have lots. I volunteer at summer camp and I always offer a nail painting group. :)

We also eat out a lot. I would cook but my DH doesn't like home cooked food that much. Maybe I'm a bad cook??

We could seriously go out to eat 3 times a day. we are try to cut back to once a week but I work long days and NEVER feel like cooking. the funny part is my DH and I are both chefs!!! I know I know.

Other down fall, Coke! We drink so much coke it is rediculous! We use to buy tons and tons of bottled water too but we use the purifier now.

My DS is a huge consumer! Milk alone! We go through a gallon every 2 days! it really adds up!

I could go on and on.....
But i am REALLY trying to be better!!!

We eat out wy too much.

But i have found that even the frozen like fhicken nuggets or chicken patties...etc are easy when id ont want to cook so i am trying to buy alot of those.

DUNKIN DONUTS coffee....we are doing better Dh used to go at least 4-5 times a week.

I even manage a coffee shop but dont like the coffee there.

I also LOVE GOOD WILL...
But do try to only get things we "really need"

Gas for my car in a way .... this is awful, but sometimes on my lunch break when someone in my office has sufficiently irritated me I go for a "drive" and sing to the radio... I have been doing it since i was a teenager,,, bad habit considering the price of gas ... but its the only thing that i can do to relax myself in a 15 min window... If you add it up in a month ,, its prob like 50 extra miles i did not have to drive... :sad2:

That's not awful. It's probably cheaper than therapy!

I'm a Thrift Store junkie.

I hunt the thrift stores for anything that is in the blue willow dish pattern. Sometimes I also pick up original artwork that someone did. Some aren't that bad. Just needed to be reframed or rematted.

That and any My Little Pony that is in the bottom of the toy bin.

And books. At least they are cheaper there than buying new. I almost caved at Sam's today because they had some great books on this summer reading display. I've cut down on my book habit by utilizing our library more.

Found a great NEW unworn Gymboree dress (2006 line) the other day...long sleeve even...for $1.86!!!! All I need is a pair of leggings and it will be a super inexpensive outfit!

My big budget buster used to be buying "People" magazine every week. It just sat there at the checkout, beckoning, and you know it is the best thing to read in the bathroom....:lmao: It drove DH crazy but my DM took pity on me and started giving me subscriptions for my birthday...

So now my vices are Diet Pepsi, books for my kids, (Scholastic book orders make me tingle) and the occasional movie theater jaunt (over $50 for the five of us....:scared1:)

Of course, this is above and beyond any Disney spending - that goes without saying, yes?? ;)

LUSH !!
I seriously spend about $100 an order, and I've been known to place multiple orders a month! The skincare alone can run a nice penny. Not to mention, the few times I chose to drive to a store (2 to 3 hrs away) and the price of gas for my nice gas guzzling Hemi 4x4 Durango! Ahhh. I justify it because most of the products are vegan and eco friendly.

Www.lushusa.com for anyone who would like to know!

Well, aside from the obvious Disney trips (we are holding off on our next big vacation for another 2 years, as we are buying a house), we eat out a bit too often (DH and I are band directors and there are some times during the year that are sure killer), we stop and snack, and maybe go to the movies a bit too often. We saw Star Trek 5 times. :scared1:

Having said that, we have very little debt, we are saving for retirement, etc...

But the big one was we purchased a Tempur-Pedic bed (about $3000) about a year ago. Stupid financial decision, but I can't say I regret it a bit!!

I get $65.00 Highlights with a haircut every 3 months, and a pedicure each month for $24.00. I also drink tons of regular Coca Cola. DH does coffee and refillable sodas each day, but we both manage to save $800.00 or more each month that goes into several saving accounts...so, it's all good. :lmao:

Have you thought about purchasing a self-cleaning litter box? It will save you money, and save the land fills, but it might cause the litter box companies to go under if you change your ways... :lmao:

This thread has really gotten me thinking. I read most of the posts and thought, 'what's wrong with that?'

Mu husband and I are not big spenders... we live debt-free (except our mortgage and car loan), well within our teacher-salary means, with two kids. The biggest lesson I have learned in life is moderation. Why is it such a bad thing to be eating out once a week? What model of life are we measuring ourselves against? I guess I'm just tired of feeling guilty for small splurges... what is life without small indulgences? If it adds to the quality of your life (emotional or otherwise), go for it! You're worth it!!

My indulgences:
1. I eat lunch out once a week and enjoy it thoroughly.
2. As a family we eat out once every two weeks on average. My husband and I both work hard and love sushi --something that is definitely outside the range of my cooking skills.
3. I go to Dunkin' Donuts for my unsweetened ice tea 4-5 times a week when I'm working -- although I have been making my own tea at home now.
4. We are sending our kids to a week long summer camp so DH and I can have some time to ourselves.

Neat thread!
Kathy

My vice is Diet Coke from the fountain. I go every morning to McDonald's and buy a Large Diet Coke. I use to spend much more, but I have cut myself down to one a day spending $1.77 everyday. I then force myself to drink water while at work.
